Only one of 61 Israelis hospitalized with COVID in serious condition is a fully vaccinated individual under the age of 60, Channel 12 news reported Sunday, citing Health Ministry figures.

According to the report, 24 of those in serious condition are unvaccinated, while 37 are fully vaccinated. The lone seriously ill fully vaccinated person under 60 was in the 50-59 age group.

No fully vaccinated individuals under age 50 were in serious condition.

These numbers may be skewed due to the fact that 90% of Israelis over 60 are vaccinated. (Pfizer) Also would note that ICU admissions in Israel are way less now than in previous waves so vaccines are working. But it does show that people over 60, especially if obese, diabetic, heart problems etc should be more careful right now, because (vaccines protect from serious illness) is not 100%.

On Wednesday morning, the Health Ministry reported 694 people were being treated in Israeli hospitals for the virus, among them 400 in serious condition, with 64% of those patients defined as serious cases being fully vaccinated, compared with 32% who were not. Another 2% were in the process of being vaccinated, and 2% were recovered.
