Thumbs down Lest We Forget

Please let us not forget. The Governor of Florida announced the top priorities for the vaccine for Covid-19 would be provided to patients in long term care, and assisted living where the more ill and elderly were living and at high risk. As he dictated these were the first priorities for the vaccine. Now lets look at the Villages and watching the photographs of 6 or 7 being the first to get vaccinated and there were no indications any were from a nursing facility like a Long Term Care, Assisted Living, etc. but allegedly from some form of a political connection? This is your Village's politics at work. Just as a final point. Allegedly it may be logical to conclude that some in the long term care and assisted living facilities will not be saved because their vaccine was grabbed by a "Politician" with connections!

While publicly downplaying the seriousness of this pandemic, many of these who are wealthy and have connections are privately jumping the line to get vaccinated first. As to "Never Forget," we are now losing more people to this horrible virus EVERY DAY - than we lost total in 9/11. What's wrong with this picture?

At least it was people over 65 getting the vaccine. Meanwhile a 31 year old politician with no underlying conditions jumped the line. Maybe she should go back to being a bartender since she cares so little about her constituents.

How many more folks might we be losing daily/weekly/monthly, etc if we did not have those vaccines that have been developed, produced and distributed in months instead of years?

Not sure what this refers to relative to the thread, but since you mention the speed, I think it important to keep reminding ourselves of the medical cooperation through the world, many working on a vaccine, way way ahead of the first case. They are not applauded enough.

COVID-19 vaccine: How was it developed so fast?

Many in “power” have gotten vaccinated to prove there is nothing to fear. Some call this a privilege while others see it as leadership. I’m not saying what my position is. :-)

I think it borrows a bit from both. But when every leader of every group that has the authority to make those decisions, chooses to go first in line to prove that there's nothing to fear - you end up with one person proving it. And everyone else just getting ahead in line.

While it is true the vaccines have been developed and approved in an unbelievably fast timeframe, it is also reasonable to assume some potential problems from that process. There is a reason it typically takes years to get FDA approvals - many many studies, and tracking those in the studies, for long term effectiveness or issues/side effects. I am not anti-vaccine and will get one as soon as I am eligible, but realize that there is additional risk due to the speedy approval.

Well in her own mind she is important. Just that the rest of us disagree.

Just maybe risks vs benefits were
taken into consideration to fast rack
the approval process!

Either you believe the science or you don't believe the science. The scientist and researchers keep saying that there were no shortcuts in development only in political policy.

When every healthcare worker/ professional, when every public servent.,firefighter, law enforcement, when every teacher and grocery or shop employee have gotten their vaccine I will get in line. Those who care for protect and provide have to be protected first. They have contact regularly with others. The rest of us can wait a bit longer. Now of course many " entitled " attitudes will disagree but as adults we might have learned to wait and allow for the well being of others who are circulating in our society.
I want to know the cashier in Publix who wears a flimsy mask is vaccinated. The patient in a long term facility is not out coughing on my meal in a local restaurant. The service person coming into my house to repair an appliance needs to be safer then some politicians who don't want to follow CDC recommend Mask social distancing advice.

Yes and because of that I will not be getting one......no really knows what if any long term side effects, because my kids are young I have encourage them not to get because if there is long term effects I don’t want them to have to deal with it late in life. If people understood how many people suffer today because of side effects of meds would they being lining up

Probably best to get the full story, prior to blaming Desantis for the “politicians” getting the vaccine first.
