Default Massive Lithium Deposits Found in Nevada...

So... The $64,000 question is... Will mining this massive reserve ever be allowed?

And would it be economical to mine it in a Country with safety and environmental regulations that doesn’t use slave like child labor?

Did you know that I own a major piece of the mine. For a slight fee willing to sell part of it off to fulfill my dream of owning a baseball team.

Worlds largest Lithium mine discovered? I wonder if the author meant Worlds largest Lithium "deposits" found. He makes it sound like a physical mine that was lost was found.

I wonder how long it will take humans to deplete Lithium?

There was a huge find in Maine, but where regulations prohibit extraction or mining. .

oh well. .

If EV's are the future lithium will be needed to be produced on our soil

From the article it looks like it may!! What people don't know is 95% of lithium can be recycled over and over again. Can't do that with a gallon of gas.
Also, there are other elements that are suitable replacements for lithium. These elements will be used for home storage of electricity, which will be the tipping point.

Lithium is a recyclable element. 95% of a lithium battery can be recycled an infinite number of times. They are building a massive recycling plant in upstate New York that should be done this year

Nevada is a mining friendly state. Many gold and silver mines are producing minerals right now in Nevada. Uranium is another mineral that may be mined in Nevada.

Building a mine is a multi year project and a very expensive undertaking .

I suspect that by the time there is the will to build a mine the EV disaster will be past us and demand for lithium just won't be there or China (which is the world's largest producer of lithium) will be allowed to invest in or buy the deposit. Not a far fetched notion given the current administration. A commodity super cycle approaches.

Thank you. Been out of mining loop awhile (worked on equipment side) and had not heard of this find. That entire area, Winnemucca east to Elko, has a strong mining history and legacy.

Since 60% of our lithium batteries, come from China, and since they are a developing nation exempt from CO2 targets, and have a larger and more modern navy in the China straight, we should continue sourcing from them. Our kids will thank us for it.

In the name of environmental care, we will continue to buy lithium from a country with lax to no environmental protection standards, that uses child labor.

Same question was asked in the late 70's of oil. As a freshman in college we had speakers come in and explain how all oil would be pumped out by 1992 (not sure how they came up with that year). There would be no more oil. The presentations also said we woul then cut then all trees, running out of lumber by 2000.

Wonder what else these experts are wrong about.

The process of extracting lithium consumes significant amounts of water and energy, and lithium mining can pollute the air and water with chemicals and heavy metals. In addition, mining lithium can disrupt wildlife habitats and cause soil erosion.
We all know about the water shortages in the southwest . The large earth moving vehicles all run on diesel or gasoline.
The toxic chemicals used in mining lithium renders the land mined uninhabitable for 100s of years .
But where there is money to be made ?
