We stopped getting it over a decade ago. We've had the flu a couple of times but we don't get that sick from it. I believe that natural immunity is far superior to vaccination whenever possible. I also think that all of the hyper cleanliness, mask wearing and distancing is going to be terrible for people in the long run because it will weaken their immune system to even the most mild of bugs. |

βThe Spartan government was only interested in the best for its state, which meant that strong children were the only ones that would survive. Both baby girls and boys were put through initial tests to see if they were strong enough to be useful to the state. If a child did not pass these fitness or health tests, they would be left to die, outside of main living area of the state, typically in the wild, or in the mountains. Sparta was not a state to accept anything but the best, and this practise started at a young age.β |

No one is suggesting sending the weak off to die in the woods. I apologize if it sounded that way. |

I am afraid of this virus because so many canβt become immune to it but succumb fatally. You may be hearing my fears. |

On the other hand, I have an 85 year old mom who lives in an independent living residence. I have to be much more careful around her. At first I did her errands for her and delivered them to her outside, no hugs. But when restrictions started to lift, she began to enjoy getting out and about again. We are very careful to avoid crowds, wear masks, socially distance, visit stores at less busy times. She does better when she gets sunlight, fresh air and a change of scene. Most of us do. She will likely want the vaccine. So I have been routinely stepping between the relative freedom of the young and healthy and then on over to the fairly restrictive world of my mom. Different people have different needs. This is not a one size fits all. People can figure out if they want this vaccine all by themselves. Last edited by Gulfcoast; 11-11-2020 at 06:13 PM. |

They don't yet know how long immunity from being infected will last. Same for the vaccine I think. So by the time it is available, Trump's immunity could be gone.

Storage requirements for the Pfizer vaccine is -70C, with max of 5 days at 2-8C prior to use.
Effectiveness of the vaccine depends on proper storage. Having been in the vaccine/cold chain distribution business for 15 years, I expect this to be challenging for most facilities.

My doctor has told me absolutely no for me. Will need to wait to see if it is actually working and not giving the people the virus before he will let me get it. I do anything he says as he has my life in his hands.

If your Dr. actually suggested that the Pfizer vaccine can infect you with the coronavirus then you should be looking for a new Dr. The vaccine may, however, produce side effects and/or it may not be very effective.

No live virus used to manufacture RNA vaccines, fingers crossed the are reasonably effective and safe. Wouldn't hurt to ask our physicians if/when/what vaccine they will take and recommend for their staff/family. |

Count me in the first group to get a vaccine. Keep in mind, there are multiple MRNA candidates coming on line quickly along with those using the more conventional vaccine production regimen. There will be choices!
And regarding those who say, "why bother, the immunity may not last long", you get a flu shot every year. Why? Because the immunity "doesn't last long" plus the virus mutates. The first SARS-Cov2 candidate out of the gate shows an effective rate of 90% . The typical yearly flu shot averages 60% effectiveness. I don't care if I have to get a shot every year. It's the price I willingly pay to lead a normal life.

The Pfizer vaccine uses RNA technology. If you are so inclined, there is plenty of information on the internet about RNA technology. Virus, live or dead, is not used to make this vaccine so there is zero chance of anyone contracting Covid from the vaccine. Side effects are another issue although, so far there have been no adverse serious side effects with the Pfizer vaccine trials. Looking really good so far. Sign me up! I'm ready to live life normally once again.
