Asia has been a very poor continent for years and to them animals are food.

Only recently dogs have become pets in China

What you have posted is true.

In China for example except for the feathers every single part of a chicken is eaten.

" Everything ".

In Scotland a traditional dish is " Haggis " . Look up the recipe. I have had it many times. :)

Is it for meat? Is it for something to do?

I think it is wrong to kill dogs but if you are starving and no other choice to be had could understand that. As the old movie went "They shoot horses, don they".

Here dogs are pets in Asia they are often a source of meat. Not saying it is right just what happens.

Yes, that's correct. Also, although South Korea, Singapore, and many other Asian countries do not feature dog meat, keep in mind that in the Asian culture it is not the taboo it is here in the U.S. and in north America in general (though I have seen it in Mexico in a far southern state). Just as some cultures would look at our consumption of cows/cattle shocking, we would of course find the consumption of cat and dogs shocking. China still (as I understand from someone still living there with our former international company) sells both live and slaughtered dogs in the meat markets. And, in those Asian countries that are more "progressive", like I mentioned South Korea, there is probably some portion of the population that prefers dog, even horse, meat, but not the norm like in China, North Korea, and a few others (not all Asian either). Considering how human beings are treated there, I doubt we could ever cause enough "back lash" to change anything, but, that's not to say "don't at least try". These folks do not have the luxury of feeding an extra mouth as a "pet". Remember just 6-8 months ago when Venezuela was suffering from their "dictator", how the zoos closed and all the animals "disappeared" ? What a lovely country that was once, guess I'll never get to go there again, used to love it there !

You hit the nail on the head. All countries are different.

France for example slaughter horses for meat, as in horse meat, readily available at every supermarket.

To some that is really terrible and inhumane, that said that is just the way it is.

Bottom line it is their culture and country and it is not up to us to get them to change.

Taking a persons pet away from them to kill for food or whatever is wrong , but I spent most of the 60’S and70’S in Southeast Asia and fog was on the menu in quite a few restaurants and served at peoples homes , you were better off not asking what you were eating

But, they want to bring that culture with them when the migrate here when it’s considered illegal here. Good example the horses in the area that been stolen slaughtered in last couple years.

Read the first paragraph again. It says they are slaughtering the dogs so they can feed them to hungry North Koreans.

A friend of mine was in Africa with the Peace Corps years ago. He was eating a stew with a group from the local tribe one day when he noticed what appeared to be a baby's hand in his bowl. He literally threw up on the spot! It turned out to be a monkey's hand.
