Wait a minute. Let's make the punishment fit the crime. Let's charge all the police officers who have murdered unarmed people with murder, and sentence them to life in prison, no parole. I don't condone the violence, but I understand why it is happening. When people have tried peaceful protests over these murders and their voices are not listened to, the top will blow off the pressure cooker. People of color are so mistreated in this country, if you think not then you have blinders on your eyes and plugs in your ears. I know very well a black Federal Judge, he is frequently stopped for no reason other than BBWD - being black while driving. He produces his Federal identification and all of a sudden the attitude changes, "Oh, sorry sir, we heard of crime involving a similar car . . . ", etc. He is fortunate because of his position, but I can only imagine what it would be without it, too many aggressive, power hungry, hate-filled people in this world.

Thank you for reminding people that the protesters agree that the punishment should fit the crime. They are waiting for the crime of George Floyd's murder to be punished.

And maybe more importantly, the time it has taken to address the other 3 cops...who just watched the murder.

Supposedly, we'll find out today about those other 3...so we'll just have to wait and see.

Very informative chart. Notice the percentage of crimes in each category and then remember that we are only 13% black and 61%white, the rest are Hispanic, Asian and Native Americans. The 13% that are black are committing much more than their share of crimes in every category. It is no wonder that they are also imprisoned and killed at a disproportionate rate. You just can't look at a number and begin to understand it without looking at other facts.

We are all part of the "human race" and therefore not perfect. ALL, including black are prejudice to some degree. We may not think of it but in the right situation it will come up. We meet a person, mentally we form an opinion. We have those skills to make judgement calls about everything around us, including people. Not all people are good not all are bad. I believe we should treat everyone with respect. We don't have to hang out with them but we owe each person respect. We all have things in our lives and our past that upset and make us mad. If we all acted out when we felt we were not heard or received prejudice, we would look like a war zone. Irish were discriminated against when they arrived in the US, the Asians, the Italians, the Muslims , the Jews and the poor to name a few. There are those who work around it, who further themselves and who are contributing. Then there are those who continue to find excuses for bad behavior. Respect has been on the decline for a number of years. The basic respect, courtesy, pride in what you have no matter how much or how little and contributing to society is in short supply in some areas and no amount of help or throwing free money at it will change it. People need to work and contribute to be able to feel personal pride.

Unfortunately, the peaceful protesters are a "cover" for the looters/violence instigators to infiltrate and disrupt. If peaceful protesters were not out congregating do you truly think the cowardly looters/violence seekers would willingly show themselves?

3 More Former Cops To Be Charged In The Killing Of George Floyd

Three more former Minnesota police officers will be charged in the killing of George Floyd, a 46-year-old Black man who died after an officer kneeled on his neck during an arrest.

The office of Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison plans to charge Tou Thao, Thomas Lane and J. Alexander Kueng on Wednesday with aiding and abetting Floyd’s murder, according to reporting by the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that HuffPost confirmed with a law enforcement source.

The Hennepin County prosecutor had already arrested Derek Chauvin, the former police officer seen kneeling on Floyd’s neck, last week, charging him with third-degree murder and manslaughter. Ellison’s office is also planning to announce that it would be upgrading the third-degree murder charge to second-degree murder.

About darned time...but better late than never!

Unlike Mr. Floyd, they will get their day in court...the way it's supposed to be.

Victims

The real victims are the people who have lost their business, the citizens who have been killed, or lost a family member with serious injuries. If you are looking for real victims look to the Jewish citizens who had over 6 million killed or the Chinesse who were slaves in the 1800 or the families of the policemen who have been killed! These are also victims. How about the mother and father who lost a child in the wars? Aren't they victims and their son or daughter who died for their country, they were the highest level of victim!! I am sick and tired of hearing the pretend do good'er feeling sorry for the person throwing the rock at the good citizen and either killing or injuring that person then claiming to be a victim. I remain with the position that punishment should be at least at the same level as the crime and no exceptions. They should have the most serious consequence. Anyone who believes
there is an excuse for killing or injuring someone who is not threatening should be
shunned and considered the enabler of the thugs who are the cowards that threaten
the free man and woman. :ohdear:

So looting and burning the business of people who had nothing to do with the murder is ok by you?

baramu 06-03-2020 07:53 PM

People like you are the problem, not the rioters.

eyc234 06-03-2020 08:04 PM

When are the thousands of protesters that watched the looting, arson and maiming of innocent people doing there job, going to be held responsible for standing around with their cell phones as crimes are committed, going to be held accountable and face justice for their culpability in criminal activities??????

They didn't just watch. They assisted. One knelt on his legs, another knelt on his back, and the third prevented people on the sidewalk from getting a better look at what was going on behind the car. Didn't stop someone from filming a few seconds of that side from the road though.
