Revised CDC Guidelines

As I understand it, it was “ mentioned” to the CDC from the WH , to announce the changes to the mandates for Covid-19. And of course None of it makes sense and contradicts most of what we learned so far.... was done while the Dr was unavailable under anesthesia in the hospital

That article is behind a paywall so I didn't read it. Instead, I went to the CDC website and read their actual guidelines.

People will not "be denied" a test if they are aware they were exposed to the virus. That is categorically false.

The guidelines suggest that certain people might not NEED to be tested. Not that it will be forbidden to them.

I recommend, always, reading the source of articles, when those articles are about facts that come from other sources.

Here are the actual guidelines:

Overview of Testing for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) | CDC

. Why screw up a good story with the FACTS???

I took that post to be tongue in cheek. Certainly less colonoscopies do not yield less colon cancer. Same for less Covid testing yields less Covid cases.

Yup......tongue in cheek.

Seriously....winky faces are not required when the comment is so outlandish as that one was.

The first paragraph of the article I linked is the following........

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention quietly modified its coronavirus testing guidelines this week to exclude people who do not have symptoms of Covid-19 — even if they have been recently exposed to the virus.

Was I spreading false rumors? I reiterated what was stated in this NY Times article.

Bad government.

That is what ALL the media is saying.

Similarly, there is too much screening for colon cancer in the U.S. especially for people over 50. If we reduce the amount of screening, we can reduce the incidence of colon cancer in the population.

Mr Spock would have called a foul for "not logical" on that one.

The hope is that a lot of the positive tests would never show up if people weren’t being tested. However, the problem is that asymptomatic positives can still spread it to those they live with, kiss, hug, talk with face to face, eat with, drive with, even if they aren’t coughing. Meanwhile, evidence shows that people who are positive are most contagious BEFORE they have any symptoms. So, if they can be detected when they DO have the disease but BEFORE they show any symptoms at all, it might be possible to get them to quarantine instead of dropping by The Villages to eat that home-cooked dinner with Grandma and Grandpa. Thus, early testing now may decrease case later and save your life.

From the article you linked to: “Models suggest that about half of transmission events can be traced back to individuals still in this so-called pre-symptomatic stage, before they start to feel ill — if they ever feel sick at all.”

That is so well written and also so true! That post covered everything that I have watched or read about that subject in the last 2 days. Nice that SOME people make HELPFUL posts based on science. For weeks there has been TOO much denying
of the facts and the really BIG risks associated with CV, and the constant downplaying of risks on this forum.

Cause of death respiratory or heart failure probably. It wouldn’t be Covid because he wasn’t tested for that. So no tests for Covid and we’ve eliminated Covid as a disease and cause of death. See how brilliant we are we just cured Covid. I did my part so could somebody kindly come up with a cure for death.

Some say religious beliefs cure or mitigate death?

Not really. Even if you get tested after being exposed you’re not in the clear with a negative response. You could be positive the very next day. You would have to be tested every single day to really know. And that’s assuming the test was accurate and no human error occurred. Best to just quarantine for 14 days. Even if symptoms develop there is no need for testing unless you need to be hospitalized

Lindsyburnsy 08-27-2020 02:04 PM

Who wants to stay quarantined for 14 days rather than having the ability to take the test? Not me.

Easy explanation - pressure/orders from above.

Let's face it.....

The US government has decided to reduce cases by reducing testing.

The US government has decided to slow the US mail.

All predictable and frankly, we were warned.

Those who do not like it.....nothing you can do about it. Nor the future moves similar.

Those who think it is fine....obviously more to come, and hope it doesn't affect you or yours.

Paddygirl 08-27-2020 05:30 PM

Is there any truth to the story that W House officials pressured the CDC to change the guidelines? Love to fact check that somehow.
