If Giuliani were major, this would not be happening. I’m a born and raised NYer and began my working career during the 70s. You couldn’t walk through the streets without climbing over homeless and being accosted by windshield washers intimidating you when you parked at a red light. A marked difference during Giuliani in the 90s. You actually were inclined to hang around the city to go to a show and have a bite to eat. Because he empowered the police and supported them.

Like you, I too am saddened and fearful. People are crazy, but the leaders of the crazies are crazy like foxes. They know that the continued weakening of our responses to lawlessness and the pandering of political leaders to special interests due to threats of various kinds is working. I believe that the majority of decent, honest people truly support equality for all, but the crazy foxes have succeeded in getting us to focus on and squabble over details, individual events and past injustices, thus making it near impossible to agree on what really needs to be done to set a proper foundation for moving ahead.
The aim of the crazy foxes, is the destruction of our country. They don't want to rock the boat, they want to tip the boat over.
I want and welcome diversity in my country and my community. But, I also welcome law and order equally applied to all. As long as there are those who prey and abuse others the laws must be enforced, order maintained and correcting measures applied equally to all.

Mayors in charge of directing police action in a crisis? Police chiefs/commissioners are hired because of their extensive education and experience in law enforcement. My guess would be 95%+ of mayors in the USA have little if any law enforcement expertise, yet they decide the actions or inactions of their city’s police response in a crisis. Anyone care to explain why this system isn’t designed to fail?????

Politicians kind of think they know it all. Why do politicians direct our armed forces in times of war when they have no military background.

One of smartest things Abraham Lincoln did was appoint Grant as general in charge and let him do his job.
