And I think a lot of us old white guys were here making a joke.

Exactly. Move on!

President Trump celebrated the Suffrage movement anniversary. I saw it on Fox. Not being political, just answering the post

“ in 2000, the Supreme Court struck down the provision of the Violence Against Women Act that gave women the right to bring cases of gender-based violence in federal courts. The court held that there was no basis in the Constitution to uphold this provision of the law.” women received the right to VOTE but not equal as a whole.

History is what it is, like it or not. I am glad we have gone beyond the limitations of the past. Since we cannot do anything to change it, why not change what we do today? Sad to say, it appears, instead of building, a faction of our country is busy destroying. I think we have enough to take care of today instead of dwelling on the shortcomings of yesterday. I am grateful to the suffragettes who paid an enormous personal price to win these freedoms and am grateful that SBA was remembered by our President.

Whenever I read about equality of women I remember a t-shirt on a young lady: "Women that want to be equal to men have an inferiority complex."

Why is everything that our fathers and forefathers we’re responsible for our fault? Move on.

Publicity stunt or whatever at least our president did issue the pardon that many other presidents neglected to do.

Considering the world they lived in our forefathers did an incredible job and than we have greatly advanced from there.

History should be considered based on the times those people lived in not based on today.

Violence is violence regardless of gender OR race. It seems to me that a SPECIAL law for gender based violence would be UN-Constitutional. So, I agree with the Supremes on that. I also do not believe in special "hate" crimes as a category. Assault and Battery or violence of any type should not be based on specialties. Just my opinion. If I was to suggest that I would bash a guy abusing his spouse up side the head if I witnessed such an action, I would probably be sued by his wife or someone else would suggest that I was a chauvinist.
I thought "equal as a whole" would be the same as treated the same, regardless of gender or race. At one time in America, your vote would be based on "white men" and ownership of property. America has progressed.
I do consider our elections to be illegal, though. The Constitution stipulates (mandates) that ONLY citizens may vote in federal elections. There is NO proof of citizenship required [at the polls]. One should have to provide PROOF of citizenship to vote in America. That is why a voter ID card should be mandatory. The honor system is not valid in a country where half the nation has no honor.

My wife would make me pay dearly if I was to treat her the same as I would a man. She insists on being treated as a "lady" and she deserves it. She may not be a queen of a country, but she is queen of the home domain.

originally 1 had to own property & pay taxes as a qualification for voting,,, still a decent idea,,, seems these days the 'vote' has become much less respected

Voter ID would at least help understand who is voting.
