The Super Bowl is a big American deal. How foolish to not take the opportunity to have a show that would appeal to a much wider audience, including young kids and all the way through to us Boomers and beyond. There are many big name entertainers who would have reached more people. We need that.

I am going back and forth right now, trying to decide what aggravated me the most, that show or that last minute loss.

I hate to see good opportunities missed. This one will be remembered for the wrong reasons.

Grrrrrrrr

PS: The ads were not good. Not even sure what some were trying to sell, although I did like the one with Barbie’s Dream House in the current real estate market. Rocket Mortgage got her past Cash Carl somehow??? and then Ken showed up to help move. I think he said something about his glutes. Geez, Ken, it’s not always about you.

davem4616 02-13-2022 10:33 PM

certainly wasn't a half time show that I enjoyed....I ended up putting it on mute

MorTech 02-14-2022 02:39 AM

The broadcast media popular culture is designed to drive rational people mad :)
It is a non-stop freak show by design. It's for midwit massman.

Nope I haven’t watched football for many years now.

Not going to hell silly…..lighten up
Thank goodness there is music out there for everyone not just just for stuffy peeps
My take is they kept it clean, the stage was pretty cool and they don’t go over the top, so for that music genre it was a great show.

satan's public relation's department. No longer hiding in the dark. A show full of symbolism but then again satanic churches are a thing too.

Just one question---how would you know?---I couldn't understand a single word they were babbling.

Boomers Fading

The Baby Boom generation is no longer the largest demographic group. There are now more Millenials. Several years ago, our music gradually disappeared from commercials.

I also wrote in another post, this half time show proves civilization is declining........and it seems to be happening at more rapid pace than in the past.

It's too bad that parents and other people let their young children see the nasty half time show and commercials during most all of the Super Bowl. The one with the dead woman getting married to a white man, and all the other nasty dancing and singing and sexual suggestive behavior.

msilagy 02-14-2022 07:29 AM

Respect others taste in music. People born in the 90's most likely enjoyed it. If you think that music is what's wrong with this country, open your eyes!

Robbb 02-14-2022 07:52 AM

Oh who doesn’t love Snoop Doggie

I have him on 8 track in my car.

guess you are stuck in yesteryear. personally I hate hiphop, however from a musician side. These 'artists' have made millions by using music to basically bitch about their environment. So it is actually more hypocritical of them, as they mostly (except for snoop) dress like they still live in that environment and act like it also.

If anything what you should be upset about is the NFL pandering to BLM without any knowledge, other than knee jerk reaction, of what the entire issue is about. The alleged inequality and I say alleged since that 'divide' wasn't there several years ago, it was invented and pushed as an issue by the millennial generation.

Most of these artists, are excellent musicians as well. It is their choice to use it in this manner, the fact that no one can understand what all the words are is besides the point. Which is the main reason I dislike hiphop, aside from content. I'm not appreciative of music containing the 7 words George Carlin couldn't say on TV. I feel a lot is lost and it's just too easy to write.

Yet keep in mind it's extremely wrong for any of us to use the "N word" yet it is entirely ok for them to.

Agree. My wife and I thought it was pretty good, except the sound sucked. I like Eminem, although I didn't like the kneeling thing, but whatever. Not really sure many people made the connection. That whole kneeling thing is played out anyway.

I actually like a lot of the newer music. Most of my Spotify playlist I use for running is newer stuff. An open mind is a healthy mind.

Your response shows that you have turned into a "grumpy" old person. The half time show is geared for a younger audience. It is exactly what your parents were saying when you were a teenager and the Beatles came on the seen and the early 70's hippies.

GATORBILL66 02-14-2022 08:59 AM

I don't even waste my time anymore watching the nba and nfl. Those two leagues have become very racist.

Hate to admit it, but you are 100% correct. I was looking to see if lyrics were sub titled, like a conversation that was translated by the nuns in the movie Airplane.

Let me be CLEAR, I do not condone any medium or song that promotes violence against anyone, especially police officers. There isn't a punishment harsh enough for animals that shoot police. Sometimes I might not find the right words, but they are my words. Look familiar?

I was speaking to the objection to the lyrics about women.

I explained to you my police background and how I am against those lyrics, but then I'm Caucasian and don't have the same experiences some African Americans do.

I enjoyed Eminem and Mary J Blige, but didn't understand a word of the rap.

I also didn't like last years half time show that was so highly sexualized with J Lo and Shakira. It escapes me that female performers feel they must perform like that to be successful.

I must be old. I couldn’t identify with any part of that halftime show. Do those rappers have a special dialect that only rap fans can decipher?

The game was great although I was rooting for the Bengals!

Title says it all. If I can find more adjectives I'll update. I'm switching to coke, best way to vote.

unialimon 02-14-2022 11:09 AM

Could have been worse. Could have had Neil Young.

OhioBuckeye 02-14-2022 11:20 AM

I guess they have some H.S. kid hired for half time entertainment. I agree what joke! Maybe ratings will go down!

DAnder2829 02-14-2022 11:31 AM

Every generation makes the same criticism of the music of yore. A know it’s very comfortable to stay in your “bubble”, however, stop showing your age and open your ears. Just like anything, not ALL musicians are thugs or troublemakers. A lot of old school hip hop reflects personal life experiences.

Nah, every generation doesn’t scrape the bottom of the barrel…sorry. There seems to be an effort like in Tic Tok how low can we go?
