This is on top of the two prior stimulus checks they have received in the past six months.

I honestly believe those folks who need the money should be helped, but this stimulus money was not meant for people who didn't need it and for those people living in The Villages that meet this criteria and don't need the stimulus money are just scamming the rest of us.

I was thinking exactly the opposite: that the many hard working people who consistently passed up luxury vacations (or ANY vacation), cooked at home, didn't go shop for "in" brands at "upscale" stores, or buy the latest phone, boat, or auto, but instead made an interim payment in addition to their monthly mortgage payments, who made coffee and put it in a thermos for the morning commute and passed on the $5 coffee at S.B.'s, who paid back every cent they owed on students loans, and have never in their lives failed to pay their income taxes (unlike a number of IRS and other government employees, and that's certainly NOT a reflection on the many ethical retired government employees who live in our community, just a reference to the well publicized fact that a very high percentage of tax cheats work for the government compared to the population in general), and who never had the latest model of Niki shoes, cellular phones, or the largest home TV set, they are exactly the ones who ( if our government is just going to hand out "free" money for no real reason) should be getting the money. I am not one of them but sure wish I'd had their wisdom and forethought. They are the ones that made it possible for politicians to spend like "drunken sailors" as they say, no accountability at all. Usually the ones who get nothing are the ones who work hard, do without, and contribute the most.

The real scam is the $350 billion in the package that is going to bail out irresponsible state and local governments like Chicago, California and Connecticut because of many years of poor fiscal management. There financial problems existed long before Covid and now they are getting bailed out on the backs of responsible tax payers. Very sad. As far as the $2,800 stimulus my wife and I recently received, we will be needing at least that to cover the ever increasing price of gas and oil since the new administration has taken over.

You don’t have to accept it. They can’t pick and choose. Based on IRS income. Some people live within there means and are frugal and some are far above there means and indebtedness.

The businesses you spend your unwanted stimulus money on will be glad you chose to help keep their employees employed.

Yes, the debt can be replaced with new debt, as long as the U.S. has a good credit rating. But, at some point, a bad credit rating will prevent the debt from being replaced, or the interest rate will greatly increase, creating even more debt, and eventual economic collapse.

If the govt. had to pick through those that are retired, with pensions, paid off houses and money to spare, it would take forever and those that are in dire need of the check would have to wait that much longer. Just like Social Security and Medicare, there is fraud, but it wouldn't be a good idea not to give it to those that need it. Personally, I took my check and called a small, locally owned cleaning company to clean all of the ductwork in the house. I probably wouldn't have done that without that stimulus check. Basically, the money went right back in the economy, as it is intended to do. People can also just donate it to a charity, if they don't need it.

Yeah if only Connecticut had refused to fork over hundreds of millions every year to the Fed, which allocated it to states like Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Alabama, we wouldn't have so much waste.

You beat me to it.

At some point the govt will either act responsibly or their will be an economic collapse.

Ratio of debt to the GNP keeps getting higher and higher.

ALL Americans, including children - EVERYONE.

That's how much EACH of us, even those NOT getting the $1400 will owe to pay for Bill.
.

That's not how government money works. The USA doesn't live in a vacuum. There are countries that owe our country hundreds of billions of dollars. We have an actual revenue stream. Yes we've added to the National debt. And yes I feel we need to start trimming some of the fat soon.

Right now though we're recovering from [politics politics politics] and a pandemic that no one could prepare for and put many of those people who used to earn too much to qualify for the stimulus are out of jobs. Thousands of businesses nationwide have closed their doors for good. Thousands have filed for bankruptcy, and put their employees out of work. I'm sorry it's such a GD inconvenience for you. Maybe try living in a country that has a government dictate what you may or may not own, and then you won't have to worry about feeling like somone getting a hand up is getting a single penny more than they "deserve."

It didnt fit the narrative of how she thinks the world works. At some point guess I should apologize for working all day and going to school at night and sacrificing when we are younger in hopes of living a better lifestyle down the road.

Nah dont think I will.

Depends on who doing the rating and can they be brought off?:)

I always thought oil and gas prices were set by supply and demand, and not by governments.
In early 2020 oil prices crashed because of the pandemic, when demand was at rock bottom.
Demand has now risen beyond production, so price goes through the roof.
Soon oil producers will step up production to take advantage of the high price, then when the glut of the stuff comes, prices will drop.
It's a never ending cycle.
I don't see anything political in it.

It’s a STIMULUS check. Go spend it locally to help businesses. Complain about where 90%of the rest of the money went.

Simple answer is don’t bitch about it and spend it with local businesses, or donate it to a soup kitchen or give it to someone less fortunate than you are.
