Default Traveling to Florida - Doctor warning about new COVID-19 cases

“If we’re going to talk about traveling to the U.K., then we should also caution Americans about traveling to Florida,” Hilton said. “Right now, one in every five new COVID cases are coming out of Florida.”

During a press briefing Friday, White House Coronavirus Response Coordinator Jeffrey Zients said four states accounted for more than 40% of all cases in the past week, with 20% of new cases occurring in Florida alone.

In Florida, only 47% of the population is fully vaccinated as the state is seeing an average of 55.1 daily new COVID-19 cases per 100,000 people, the highest rate in the country, according to data from the Brown School of Public Health. And according to the Florida Department of Health's weekly COVID-19 report, the number of new COVID-19 cases nearly doubled in the state last week from the prior week."

If you read the original news article from Yahoo it's more clear that the "Hilton" person referred to in the first paragraph above is not representing The White House or the CDC. I don't think the CDC or the administration are suggesting people not travel
to Florida.

Right you are, thanks. I have tried to change the title to reflect that fact but have been unsuccessful so far.

As high as 90+% are those not vaccinated (the not vaccinated pandemic!?)
And 75% of the new cases are the Delta strain.

I read that Sumter County is averaging 19 cases per day, the number of cases is on the rise, and the county is high risk for unvaccinated people. And there are people who have been vaccinated who have had break through infection, and although I personally know some who are very sick, they are not in the hospital. Even though we in the community are probably (and I'm guessing here) maybe 80% vaccinated, people are visiting family or have grandkids who are not vaccinated, which could fuel the spread. Even though vaccinated, I wear a mask in some public settings like the grocery store, to protect other whose immunity may be compromised (cancer treatments for example) who have been unable to be vaccinated or the vaccination may not be as effective for them. And to help control the spread of variants and mutations.

What is the death rate? What is the hospitalization rate? Reporting only on new cases per 100,000 people is a game being played with statistics.

Here we go again. “The sky is falling”. Get vaccinated. If not, have your affairs in order. Simple

I wonder what percent of the 48% FV are snowbirds and people who flocked to Florida early on to get ahead in line. It could be upwards towards a million vaccinations right? So is the real number 48 or low 40s

The media needs to stir the pot to keep the pressure off what our leaders are doing.
