"Mixed messages" is simply another way of saying that as new science comes in, a person is willing to change their professional assessment. On the opposite side of that coin, lies those who can never admit they were wrong and refuse to change their minds, regardless of the facts showing otherwise. So, if Faucci represents "Science", that's fine - but just as important to the Medical HEALTH of US citizens is Financial Health and Emotional Health. I don't believe that he takes everything into consideration for us all in terms of OVERALL Health.

Dr. Fauci’s job is supposed to be to recommend to the president a course of action based solely on medical or scientific evidence. This is only one input. The president then has to listen to his economic, education military advisors etc. and way all of these factors in creating a public policy. This is a no win situation for any, and I mean any president. What good is a perfectly healthy country If the country is destroyed economically, or our kid are left seriously behind and mentally broken. Unfortunately, Dr Fauci has reached a point where he cannot pass a camera by and believes he is in charge of public policy.

Considering the subject of the original poster, I would say in that context, your statement of fact was a slight of the good Doctor.

Interesting point and I think your observation is spot on. Fact of the matter is, this virus is uncontrollable. The best chance we would have had to perhaps limit the damage it would cause was by China when the virus first escaped into the general public.

You can be as upset as you want at Trump, Fauci, Biden (take your pick) but in reality it's China that should be getting 100% of the blame. Our partisan news media and politics are so absurd these days that instead of blaming the real culprit, we're blaming ourselves.

So do I.. With over 500,000 Americans dead it is truly incredible and sad that many people on this forum continue to question public health measures and the advice from Dr, Fauci. I guess his examples of playing it safe included the time he sat side by side people at a baseball game with no mask on...while preaching to the country they couldn’t hug their own grandchildren...

I know that you want to believe this - but he hasn't kept us alive for the past year and if you believe he has, he has also said that even if everyone was vaccinated we would still be wearing our masks, washing or hands, social distancing, and those with grandchildren would still not be able to see them.

I wear my mask (in public), I was my hands frequently and even when I should based on our "before Covid life", I social distance. I still go to the grocery store, the general stores I need to go to, restaurants, and family events. I know of large, large, large communities of people who aren't eligible for the vaccination because of their age who do the same. None have been hit with Covid unless they didn't know. The only people I know who have had it - stayed home, some ordered and picked up groceries wearing their masks the entire way in a car by themselves, they have walked outside with their masks on to get their mail or paper, and been alone every day all day. I feel very sad for them because they were too scared to do anything but still ended up with Covid.

Who knows the answers, even some of them? I don't believe Fauci does. I believe that right now he has the little-man syndrome - a little man, who sat by himself, who now has the world listening to him, and people dying everywhere who did.

Science? You mean subjective opinions? People love throwing that word science out there, as if they are the scientist...

And China did (and still does) NOT admit Covid-19 BEGAN in Wuhan. WHO, after a year, sent a delegation there to investigate the origins. ONE YEAR AFTER!!! And China Communist Media still asserts that Covid-19 began elsewhere - even from the USA.

Anthony Fauci is someone I trust to give us advice about viruses and how they effect the public. He has advised Presidents since Ronald Reagan. He is skilled in science, but is human as well and not above giving his opinions sometimes on subjects unrelated to medicine. I think he has done very well for himself as a short guy from Brooklyn.

To me, it seems like people have mental blocks and only hear what they want. Right from the get go I heard that the vaccine is NOT the end all. We still will have to wear mask, keep distance, etc, etc because you can still carry it to others. That was said since day one!

Many people only believe the “information” that already fits with their previous beliefs. Information about Covid has changed as the science around it has learned more, so of course Fauci would change recommendations. I’m sticking with the science and Fauci.

Dr. Fauci hasn't kept me alive.......I've kept (by the grace of God) myself alive. I still travel, go to restaurants and keep myself busy. No vaccine for me, but I have always "washed my hands" and used common sense in most everything I do. But I WILL NOT listen to the public mouthpiece that permeates the media. I am in the "high risk" category but I have no worries.
BTW......Dr. Fauci makes on the high side of $400 thousand dollars a year.....not bad for a government employee. He should have retired fifteen years ago.

Think about it. We in Florida who have a great Governor who has more common sense in his pinky than Dr. Fauci have had a pretty good year during this Pandemic. If he listened to Fauci we would have been in our houses all day twiddling our fingers. I have enjoyed going out for dinner at least 3 or 4 times a week all year as well as playing golf every day with no adverse affects. Thank God I moved the hell out of New Jersey. All my friends there are complaining about their stupid governor who has his head up you know what. They want to get out of NJ as soon as they can. I told all my conservative friends to come to Florida and I told all my liberal friends (who I have many) to move to California since it has better weather than Florida. If I died tomorrow I would have a smile on my face because I wasn't scared by this jerk Fauci. God Bless America.
