Early on, he said wearing a mask is not necessary.

And he backed off that and said he was incorrect...as an intelligent, moral person should do. Unlike others that threw suggestions of clorox out to the public.

He's human, it was all new and changing daily...how could anyone find fault under those circumstances...jezzzzzz

Free speech is a wonderful thing, even though we don't all agree.

Anthony Fauci is someone I trust to give us advice about viruses and how they effect the public. He has advised Presidents since Ronald Reagan. He is skilled in science, but is human as well and not above giving his opinions sometimes on subjects unrelated to medicine. I think he has done very well for himself as a short guy from Brooklyn.

Thank you, we finally agree! I appreciate your response....

Fauci is dealing with new information and sometimes has to change guidance based on that new information. Unfortunately, he seems to also be leveraging his reputation to attempt to drive public behaviors. "Fauci said" is heard more often than "Simon says" these days. In the case of the masks, he acknowledged that part of the reason for his initial message was to preserve masks for doctors - he was trying to drive our behavior. In the case of the number of vaccinations needed for herd immunity he acknowledged that he increased his estimate when he learned that more people were accepting the vaccine - it was off to a good start so he could shoot higher and attempt to get even more people on board.

I trust his expertise but I don't trust the man. I believe he knows his field but I suspect this virus is doing things he doesn't expect and he's struggling to understand it. When he talks about science he has credibility but when he attempts to sway public opinion and drive behaviors he loses it.

:bigbow: Well said.

I don't know who is pulling this guy's strings, but it's not someone who cares about the American people.

Give the guy a break. Frankly, what I worry more about is all the villagers wandering around with no masks like the pandemic is over. The truth is that if everyone had worn masks from the very beginning this would all be over. Ponder that for awhile.

Truth. As far as The Villagers with no masks - No fool like an old fool.

I thought he previously advised that being vaccinated would allow us to get back to some sort of normal!

If we have not suffered the virus in a year's time and we still can't do all of the above - why be vaccinated? We must be doing something right by not becoming ill during that one year period!

To me, it seems like people have mental blocks and only hear what they want. Right from the get go I heard that the vaccine is NOT the end all. We still will have to wear mask, keep distance, etc, etc because you can still carry it to others. That was said since day one!
It floors me that people think... oh now I can hug the grandkids, eat in a crowded restaurant... think about it...you're sitting next to dumb and dumber, who refused to get a shot and let's say they have it (and don't realize)....now its jumped to you...but you got your shot, it will basically leave you alone, but its with you. Now you head over to see grandkids....and there you go.

My biggest fear is all these children will come down with it bc g-ma & g-pa were misinformed.

They never said you won't carry it, or you won't ever get it again...you could-but it will be mild and not kill you.
So use common sense.

Many people only believe the “information” that already fits with their previous beliefs. Information about Covid has changed as the science around it has learned more, so of course Fauci would change recommendations. I’m sticking with the science and Fauci.

Joe C. 02-25-2021 09:24 AM

Dr. Fauci hasn't kept me alive.......I've kept (by the grace of God) myself alive. I still travel, go to restaurants and keep myself busy. No vaccine for me, but I have always "washed my hands" and used common sense in most everything I do. But I WILL NOT listen to the public mouthpiece that permeates the media. I am in the "high risk" category but I have no worries.
BTW......Dr. Fauci makes on the high side of $400 thousand dollars a year.....not bad for a government employee. He should have retired fifteen years ago.

Spalumbos62 02-25-2021 09:28 AM

He did explain why they want 2 doses.

You can be as upset as you want at Trump, Fauci, Biden (take your pick) but in reality it's China that should be getting 100% of the blame. Our partisan news media and politics are so absurd these days that instead of blaming the real culprit, we're blaming ourselves.

No the blame in America goes to those who reused to take COVID-19 seriously not China. Many countries have controlled the virus well with very few deaths. America has over 500,000 deaths - worst in the world

Think about it. We in Florida who have a great Governor who has more common sense in his pinky than Dr. Fauci have had a pretty good year during this Pandemic. If he listened to Fauci we would have been in our houses all day twiddling our fingers. I have enjoyed going out for dinner at least 3 or 4 times a week all year as well as playing golf every day with no adverse affects. Thank God I moved the hell out of New Jersey. All my friends there are complaining about their stupid governor who has his head up you know what. They want to get out of NJ as soon as they can. I told all my conservative friends to come to Florida and I told all my liberal friends (who I have many) to move to California since it has better weather than Florida. If I died tomorrow I would have a smile on my face because I wasn't scared by this jerk Fauci. God Bless America.

bocaabend 02-25-2021 09:37 AM

He’s so involved with himself. I can’t watch or listen to him and I definitely don’t trust him
