Default Attic helper

The attic stairs that are sold at Lowes or HD are very flimsy and I believe dangerous. Later on I will post a ladder that I built for our attic access opening. I am not in TV right now so can't take photos.

One thing I did is very simple and makes taking larger items up in the attic safer. I simply bolted an eyebolt to the roof truss directly over the center of the opening. I suspended a block and tackle and use this to haul larger and awkward items up through the opening. You really should not put really heavy stuff up there so the Block and Tackle can be light duty.

I also floored the attic. The best source for the floor was nearby construction sites. I watched nearby sites when they were decking the roof and then I would check with the job boss and asked if I could take some of the larger scrap in the dumpster. No problem.
