Copper pipe problem??
I have a prefab house built in 1990 on the Historic Side. Had a plumber out today to fix a leak which turned out to be either in or under the slab.
In passing, the plumber said I would have "more leaks" because my pipes are copper and will develop pits. Two questions: 1. Is this a common problem for Villages houses with copper pipes? 2. What is the cost of replacing copper pipes if that needs to be done?

Paulat585,
I did a Google search on "copper pipe in concrete" there were many results that may answer your question. I am not familiar with suitable alternatives, and will leave this to others.

Yes any house over 30 years old and some less with acidic water will deteriorate. Slab foundation are pretty expensive when compared to crawl space foundation ( which means you have access to pipes below floors) Basically all the line in your house are bypassed to the attic and then down usually done with poly tubing and pex fittings Or glued schedule 40 or 80 pvc depending on codes. Poly preferred method cause it will bend and of course not as rigid as PVC and easily repaired.

Had a condo in Venice and the whole building had to have the copper pipes replaced.
