Default Cut down bar stool legs

We are getting quartz countertops and making the island all one height. We will need to cut down the legs on our bar stools to counter height. Can we get that done at the wood shop?

Judith Ann:

If you don't mind me asking: Are you getting new cabinets OR having your existing island cut down to one level? I want to do the latter and am wondering if countertop people can do that or if I have to find someone else to do it before the new countertops are installed. Any info appreciated. Thanks.

I’m pretty sure the wood shop will do it.

Kathy, we had our existing cabinets painted white. The countertop people already cut down the raised part of the old counter tops. They also do the electrical work. They can put in a push button on the counter for the garbage disposal. We just have to get a plumber to hook up the new sink, etc. We are going to take the stools to the wood shop to be cut down. We may end up buying new ones, but the kitchen nook table and chairs have to match which may take some shopping.

I needed some bar stools legs cut down. The wood shop told me they were overloaded and couldn't help - this was a couple years ago, maybe things have changed. I was having some flooring done, and the flooring guy had his saw and cut them down for me in about a minute each, no problem.
Find a flooring installer and they'll likely do it for $20 or something if the woodshop doesn't work out.

I am wondering why you are not staying with the higher bar counter top. Can it not be done with that material? My wife and I had to hustle to buy a home with the lower island and we do not like the look at all, especially if the sink is on the island. We love to 2 level ones. Most of the new homes today have the single level.
