The worst part is starting a project down here knowing you have something you need,
only to go out in your garage and realize you left what you need up north.

Happens to me all the time in both directions. Just did some 12 volt electric connections up north and realized my soldering iron is in the garage in the villages.

Doesn’t matter how many screws you have, the job always needs one that is a different size.

Same here. I got car mechanic tools, wood tools, hundreds of different size screws/bolts/nuts, but you never know when you will need a 1/2 open end wrench, or a 1/4” wood screw. I hate to run to Lowe’s every time I need something that I might have given away

I have no use for any of it but I am impressed at how neat and orderly you keep it all.

I have a large battery from a lawn mower that I dumped.
Can anyone tell me where to get rid of the battery.

If any of my fellow TOTVs posters in pinch needs part I may have saved give me shout. I have some circuit board parts I saved over the years also Here sample of spare parts. I doubt I will ever use up all of them.

Carry it up the stairs and store it in the garage attic while you are still young.

I have a lot of "stuff" too. But when I need something I can never seem to find it, so I go out and by new "stuff".

Yes, exactly how hubby felt that is why I think we have more stuff than HomeDepot in the “workshop”. Do you have any idea how many hex and Allen keys sizes (metric and imperial) there are? I don’t think we are missing any.

Suppose you needed a 101 pieces of anything!

I'd send a DM to The VillageTinker and offer to buy one from him. He has extras of EVERYTHING :)

Recycle
Lead acid - Auto Zone
Lithium Ion - Lowes or Home Depot

[QUOTE=So much stuff unsorted that we buy another clamp or whatever because he can’t find any of the 12 he already bought, under everything. It’s not that he is messy, it’s that he is on the go all the time and has little time left over time for sorting.[/QUOTE]

So true. You need an inventory management system but you have to start it way back 10 years ago when you started hoarding/collecting stuff. It can just be a simple text file which shows the item and its location and then use its search facility when you need something. The trick of course is that when you name it you have to use a name that you will remember when you want to find it.

Great suggestion, I’m trying to sort some as he cannot help. I manage about 30 minutes at a time. The other thing is, since I don’t know what the things are I Google them and also take a picture of them where I put them. Works for my art supplies.

Guaranteed you're missing a 10mm socket...
