My husband has had a Vizio for longer than I've known him. 12 yrs+ It moved to the bedroom several years to make way for a larger one and doesn't get used much so maybe that's what saved it. Our newer TV freezes on us from time to time. Not sure if that's the TV or the cable but suspect the TV.

My newer 2 y.o. LG did the same thing. Turning off the tv using a physical button on the back of the set rather than using the remote to turn it off solved the problem for several months until it needed to be done again successfully.

Ace Hardware in Wildwood replaced a power board in a newer Samsung for $125.
Much cheaper than replacing the TV.

Now this is not a tech savvy houshold. For installation of a new tv, and set up with cable and blueray player would you recommend Bob's TV or Villager Audio?
TIA

My Samsung has done something similar I found a thread online that said to unplug the tv for a few minutes then plug it back in. I've had no issues since I did this and it's been well over a year.

On the other hand an 8 year old tv you got your money's worth.

I have a TV that has a great picture but some channels have no sound but if I go to another channel with sound then go back it usually will have sound then! But personally I think it’s my TV, not the cable provider.

I owned one for about a year before this kind of thing started. Luckily, I had purchased a warranty and replaced it with a Samsung. Will never buy anything LG ever again.

That is total BS !!

Our Vizio mounted in our lanai has been great going on 6 yrs......The lanai is our main “living area” and as such, our Vizio is used 95 % of the time vs our “indoor” TV’s......

LOL. I'd love to see the statistics behind that baseless comment. The 65" top of the line AT THAT TIME Vizio we got 3 years ago was top 3 rated on virtually every AV forum as well as by Consumer Reports and on RTINGS.COM. Still working like a champ (as is the 32" cheap low-end $115 one we have on our bedroom wall that is ~5 years old).

Your picture circuit board is going out. TV’s are easy to fix. It’s one of three things. Sound board, Pic board or power supply.

If you can limp along until the Black Friday sales you can replace that TV really cheap.

Parts are all made in same Chinese factory

Definitely would suggest tossing it and buying a new one. (When was the last time you saw a "TV REPAIR" Shop? --- Reason is that it is not worth repairing them.) Also, please keep in mind that handling the capacitors can lead to a very shocking experience if not properly discharged. "Shocking", as in stick your finger in the live lamp socket.
