Default Wiring for under counter lights

Has anyone added a switched outlet above their cabinets for under counter lighting? The way I see it it would take a switch mounted on the formica back-splash which would be wired to an outlet above the cabinets. If anyone has installed this set up I would appreciate knowing any problems or warnings. Thanks.

if you have an over the stove microwave thats a good scource where it plugs in. then wire the lights from there. the wires will be nicely hidden in the cabinets.

We had that done by Lenart Electrical along with under the cupboard lighting. turned out great and was quite reasonable. He used an existing outlet and turned the top plug into a switch that operates the lights above the cupboards. you could always call lenart for an estimate and see what they say about how to do it yourself - but you might be surprised that after you buy all the lights, wiring and time, it's not going to be much more that a diy project.

The man you might want to speak to about lights under the counter is TOTV's own RichieLion. He had it done and it looks super.
