The Villages Regional Hospital

The Heart Center
It takes a team of experienced professionals to deliver superior heart care. For 16 years, The Heart Center at The Villages® Regional Hospital has remained at the forefront of cardiac innovation and technology through the caring hands of our cardiologists and cardiac care professionals. With more than 5,000 hearts saved each year, no other heart program in our area has more experience in cardiac care.

During a heart attack, every minute counts. The Villages® Regional Hospital offers 24-hour interventional cardiology coverage and is designated for EMS transport of patients with a type of suspected heart attack known as a STEMI (ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction). The Hospital's catheterization door-to-open-vessel times (the time it takes for a cardiac patient to proceed from the hospital entrance to catheterization procedure) averages 60 minutes, better than the American College of Cardiology benchmark and the national average of 90 minutes or less.

Having recently moved to TV, I was horrified to see the low ratings and bad reputation of the local hospital. Absolutely inexcusable for this affluent community.
Maybe, the new affiliation & management under U of Florida-Shandswill turn things around. As a retired administrator with merger and accreditation experience, I know this will take time, clean out dead wood, bring in new docs, especially good specialists. With typical COPD population, it would seem there is a dearth of good pulmonologists. I tried Ocala, but still shortage of pulmonologists even there. Hospitals just OK on ratings reputation and breadth and depth of needed services.
