First thing that comes to my mind - Bet nice memories are being made for that family. A joy to see.
What if the greens were damaged? The family was breaking the rules.

And paying trail fees is significant why for access to a closed course at 7pm?

NO!

Make a tee time for when you CAN make it on-time.

Why do so many who came here knowing the rules want to constantly change or ignore those same rules?

Get yourself another hobby to replace chronic complaining about (or trying to circumvent) policies and rules.

You hope grandpa taught golf rules to the grandkids, there is a golf seminar children under 12 are suppose to attend before getting on the course, not many rules enforced ever , never mind after 7:00

Thanks for your suggestions, we have both not played for years and just spent a few days at the Lopez range and practice green knocking the rust off, we don’t feel comfortable with our drivers, hybrids and longer irons so we don’t want to hold up, slow down, annoy others or damage a nice champ course, that’s why I thought the pitch and putt would be a perfect start.

As an Ambassador/Starter(i.e. outside staff), I can tell you that it does happen all the time. Most people know they can wait for our flag to be taken down(i.e. close shop), and out they go! Post COVID, we stayed on the courses after closing, to prevent such. But, that changed. The District(which runs Execs), opted to discontinue the practice, so it's back to normal. Not much can be done, lest you contacted Golf Mgmt, and were able to identify the people. You could also try Community Watch, to see if they'd come out? Like others, I respect grandparents wanting to have those moments with their young ones. But, sometimes that could involve damage to greens, etc? Guests are still not allowed(due to no cash-handling/no credit card machines on Execs north of 44), and young children are never allowed. But, I'm sure those people knew that, which is why they showed up when they did. Sorry.

I actually like to go play at that time especially when hot so want to be able to still do that but you are correct that apparently someone took advantage of being able to do that.

Yes. Go around them and let them enjoy. And if it’s so important to you that you play 9 holes there’s another course just across the road.

... it’s called an ‘educated guess’ and has nothing to do with the post! In my original post, I never mentioned that I was playing that night! My wife and I drive that tree-lined path often on our way to & from Lake Sumpter Landing. It was on that trip that I noticed the ‘family’.

You rolled by at 7:02 and again at 7:40, making for a very quick trip to LSL for you and the wife. I think you can see where it appears you were wanting to play.

I guess we should have known you only wanted "thoughts" from those who agree with you.

So not only did you KNOW Grandpa knew better, you reported him the next day. Did you mention that his transgression caused you to not be able to break the rules, too?

Yes, you clearly intended to play. Be a sport and admit it.

Pot, meet kettle.
