Quit complaining about the golf course employees; if all of them refused to work during this pandemic (which they could), all the courses would be closed. Would you want to work an extra 2 hours each day just to please some ungrateful, privileged Villager? I thank them whenever I see them for being out there. :bigbow:

Let's be honest about this ... The Villages is saving money by refusing to staff the courses after 4 PM. It's that simple. Why pretend there are any other explanations?

We used to be able to go out after the courses were "closed" ... now they say they will send the sheriff after you. Why? Pretty awful.

Let's be honest about this....staff with whom?????

Besides everything else already mentioned in this thread, building thousands of new homes without keeping pace on adding sufficient new golfing opportunities certainly compounds the problem. It’s the perfect storm for difficulty getting t times.

I agree, no new courses to keep up with the expansion is going to make getting a time a year round problem.

If by expansion you're referring to the new construction south of 44, there are 4 executive courses, including the Marsh View Pitch and Putt.

I think there are five executive courses plus the pitch and putt.

Red Fox
Gray Fox
Longleaf
Loblolly
Lowlands
Marsh View Pitch and Putt

biker1 04-29-2020 12:19 PM

There are actually 5 executives, plus Marsh View:

Red Fox
Gray Fox
Longleaf
Loblolly
Lowlands

My bad. I completely forgot Lowlands, which I've played many times :)

Let's see, they've been at this for 40 + years and just now started not knowing what is needed? You have 2 posts. How long have you been diagnosing problems in TV?

GrayFox1 04-29-2020 02:46 PM

Tee times

With all of the new homes going up and just 3 new exec courses I expect this will last for some time, especially right now with so many snow birds extending their stays.

biker1 04-29-2020 02:55 PM

See post #47. There are 5 new executive courses, plus the Marshview Pitch and Putt, and plus the other putting course.

Not really.

Really....R u a full or part time politician? Your 15% makes it look minimal vs my 2300 shows a real number of eliminated tee times.....U may want to slow down on your post numbers Youll likely to break some sort of record......

Because that could make them full-time employees and open a bucket of worms?

Closing at 4 waste of daylight

You referring to those few employees still working who are already covering multiple shifts, possibly endangering theirs and their loved ones health so you can golf? Yes, why can’t they each work more. Senseless.

Marvic 1 04-29-2020 04:35 PM

What a bunch of strange people we have here at the Villages..
In another thread we are making fun at Police officers but on here we are turning golf course Ambassadors into hero's...

Last week before the April snowbirds leave.

It's really not that we're so busy. The fact that the Villages has eliminated 20% of the tee times has more to do with it.

That's about 900 tee times or about 3,600 per day golfers that are not able to play.

It's like trying to stuff 20 pounds of stuff into a five pound bag.

Plus I see some of the courses are closed.

:bigbow: No way, Villagers care about the well being of others!! Just look at the number of post whining about pickleball, pools and golf. More concern about GAMES when there are people wondering how to eat without a job for over a month. But wah, wah, wah we can not play a game!!

ficoguy 04-30-2020 08:36 AM

They can't leave soon enough for me....They don't fix their ballmarks on the greens, they don't fill in their divots in the fairways, they complain about slow play when they're taking six practice swings and then dribble the ball 20 yards....I could go on.....but its time to go back. Bye bye Felicia

RayAmb 04-30-2020 08:40 AM

THE PROBLEM IS ,',,,,,, ALL THE NEW CONSTRUCTION SOUTH OF 44. They have maxed out the “9 hole” courses AND HAVE NO 18 hole courses “ so they are crushing the courses north of the turnpike.
What can you do?

Juliebythesea 04-30-2020 09:08 AM

We have tee times every day for 2 people no problems

ficoguy 04-30-2020 09:20 AM

The problem is people are resorting to golf who shouldn;t be playing golf....hack...hackkk...hacccckkkk...

arickis 04-30-2020 09:21 AM

They stopped tee times after 4 pm also, so you have a lot of requests jammed into a shorter availability. Also, everything else is shut down, so many groups are turning to golf.

biker1 04-30-2020 09:23 AM

Exactly who gets to decide who shouldn't be playing golf?

Danz654 04-30-2020 09:26 AM

I’m thinking nobody wants to go home. I was saying the same thing booked solid

dewilson58 04-30-2020 09:31 AM

Lots of openings today.

cypress 04-30-2020 09:36 AM

You also have a lot of empty spaces since folks put in non-golfing friends for foursomes when there are only two or three of them. Then one or two surprisingly don't show up at the last minute and they don't have to play with strangers.

kwachowski 04-30-2020 10:11 AM

Winter residents

I think the golf courses are so full is because of the people who are going up north don't want to go back until this virus is contained. Also don't forget we have a lot more residents then we did in years past and a lot of them are full timers.

Haven't seen any posts making fun of police officers and were not turning golf ambassadors into heroes. You're probably one of those wondering why they can't work a few extra hours.
:boxing2::boom:

Guitarman1951 05-01-2020 07:17 AM

A full one third of courses are closed.

Mallory has been totally closed until yesterday. It amazes me that you don't know this. If you've played any golf at all or read the news on an ongoing basis, you would know all this.

villages07 05-01-2020 08:03 AM

Starting Monday, May 4th, executive tee times are back to “normal”...I.e. you can schedule until 7pm. That should free up the golf a bit.

This was a brief mention in today’s paper and I just verified it on the tee time system.

ficoguy 05-01-2020 09:44 AM

Well Happy May Day. The traditional day when our winter visitors who can't stand the heat fly back to their summer abodes by cool lakes and green forests and sand beaches.....Maybe we will see some easing up on tee times....

jimlambert 05-01-2020 10:23 AM

Palmetto

Sweetgum and Pineallas are closed; only Mangrove is open. Both Bogart and Bacall are closed today. Probably others all across The Villages. All traffic goes to the open courses, making tee times scarce.

. There is no course here called Pineallas. Do you mean Palmetto?

Bill1701 05-01-2020 10:28 AM

New times available

FYI, starting Monday tee times are available after 4 pm. Expect all the haters to be complaining about that.

JerryLBell 05-01-2020 01:57 PM

Even with some (or many) snowbirds heading back north at the end of April, the executive golf courses are booked solid this weekend. Maybe some (or many) of them are staying yet another month? And with weather like we had today, who can blame them?

Many, many more on Monday.

That's because they are NOT-UP anymore.....
Why would I care how many hours anybody works, I'm not exactly paying for it...
BTW, Punching you back.... :icon_wink:

Northwoods 05-01-2020 08:55 PM

Sweetgum is now open! There are Exec tee times after 4:00. Life is good. Things are getting back to normal.
