Seems none of the snow birds went home. In there defense, why would they. They would have to quarantine for 2 weeks. Weather still not great. Let’s just hope it’s not a habit

Here is a suggestion...... tee time requests process at midnight..... get up at about 12:30 am and log on to the system and look at the open tee times that might suit you. Book it and you’ll be all set . You can always all the tee times office to verify that there is no software abnormalities...... |
This week getting a championship teetime was even less easy than last week. For our foursome of non-priority members I requested Palmer, Glenview, Cane Garden, Mallory and Havana from 11:56 to 1:30 for Friday. I entered the request six days in advance. We got nothing for Friday. On Tuesday when I saw we had nothing I quickly put in a request for Saturday. The week before I got a reservation for Saturday when I had to do that. This time, nothing for Saturday either and unlike the week before, teetimes are up to 5pm and beyond.
Finally I went on the open times and grabbed 10:56 at Glenview, I think one reason that was available is I believe prices go down at 11:00, without the waves I can't tell, so we will have to pay $42 instead $36. The only option was Lopez at 1:52, but that meant not finishing until about 6pm and our member who lives in LaBelle probably wouldn't get home until after 7pm. |
They are only using 18 of 27 holes on the 10 championship courses. It does make check in safer

I stated in my original post, we requested 11:56 to 1:30, that's the time we requested for the past 9 years and have gotten a time every Friday. Now they've even extended the hours beyond 4pm and it's still booked up, it's probably until the snowbirds go home, the third nines reopen probably in June or so before these teetime problems go away. We did get a time, Saturday at 10:56 at Glenview. Executives, I don't wait all week to play 90 minutes of golf with my irons, that good practice or warm up, but it's not golf. |

Tee times are quite tight this year. Seasonal residents staying longer is only a small issue, after all they are here during the winter and the days are shorter then, but it has never been this tight. Main reason is the loss of tee times with no waves and only 18 holes open. Next, lack of other recreational opportunities are driving people to golf. People who are essentially non-golfers are flooding the exec courses, which drives some regular exec players to the championship courses In your case, the problem is compounded by having 4 non-priority members, which puts you at the bottom of the request list. It doesn't matter if you put the request in 7 days or 3 days ahead, they are all assigned at the same time in order of priority points. Rumor, (repeat rumor), has it that they are going back to all 3 nines open and waves on May 18. That will solve most of the problem |
Golf expansion south of 44

This post started as a discussion of availability of tee times on executive courses. All tee times on the 5 Exec courses discussed are full as well (at least up to 4:30). |

To answer your question, I have experience in planning for parks and recreation on a state and county level. The Villages is a math issue. The last champ course built was 2014 and the population was approx 112000, the population in 2018 was 122000 and projected growth of 65,000 new homes which will double the population. A new golf course takes 18 to 24 months and right now there is only one champ being built and no Exec courses. There is a lot more analysis such as percentage of snowbirds, percentage of the population that golfs and present versus future capacity. |
