Default First green at Roosevelt...

it's no longer Bermuda grass...terrible condition! Number two there about 1/4 as bad, but same weird grass(looks like poa annua since it has blooms in the afternoon).

Played Roosevelt the other day. Could not believe that they were even open. Another course for mitch.leininger@districtgov.org to be told about. According to him, all is well, all course are fine!

Poa Annua yes. Spreading rapidly across Truman and Roosevelt greens. No known herbacide that will selectively kill poa annua without killing the other grasses as well. Only solution is to "Roundup" all the grass and replant. I doubt they will do this. Poa grows faster than the other grasses, making for bumpy conditions unless you mow every day. They won't be doing this either. Interesting to note that Pebble Beach has pure poa annua greens.

Has been bad for over a month. If you don’t make the first putt ( good luck) call it a two putt and move on.

Poa is actually an excellent grass for a putting green, but as Upnorth said, it has to be mowed frequently.

Jimmemack has the answer. They simply don't care. They believe, and they may be right, that the majority of golfers here are out for the social aspect of the game and could care less about conditions. Many would be just as happy to whack a ball around a field.

Unfortunately, those of us that love the game are going to have to simply accept that this is what we have.

It seems every year around now the courses/greens are rough.

The first green on Roosevelt will have to be redone. The 2nd green moving in the direction of the first. Such a shame.
Hope repairs are being discussed.

Poa annua is tough to get rid of. The 1st green at Roosevelt is now almost 100% Poa. It throws off loads of tiny little seeds that are carried by the wind and can sprout just about anywhere. It will soon turn yellow and die off in the hot weather, but will be back in the Fall and next Spring if something isn't done in the meantime. It is spreading all over the course.
