Default They can do better than this.

I played palmetto today and the greens are pathetic. Inch high tufts of grass right next to bare sand. Can not even putt. What are we getting for our $180 amenity fees? Someone needs to be held accountable for this total incompetence. It has happened before and there is really no excuse.

Wife and I played there this week, agree, in terrible shape.

Mangrove is in nice shape and Sweetgum is okay - aren’t they the same group maintaining all three.

That looks like the turf is diseased. Probably time for a complete removal of turf and dirt and start over

Not to worry. In another 6 - 8 weeks they'll start closing golf courses for maintenance and renovation. The courses will be back in top form just in time for the mass arrival of fall/winter folks!

It's not going to change. Only a small percentage of your amenity fee goes into executive golf maintenance. The rest is for flowers, cart paths, pools, rec centers, pickle ball and tennis courts, softball fields etc.

I've had discussion with those in charge and they blame the high traffic in the winter.

I've worked at several golf courses in Florida in the winter and they were always maintained well during the winter months. It's mostly a matter of money. The Villages wants to keep offering "FREE Golf". They don't make any money from the execs so they aren't going to put a lot into them.

If they were designed and constructed better from the start it wouldn't be quite as bad. But it is what it is and it's not going to change.

After looking at this pic, I think that I’d chip rather than putt.. awful. Shameful. Course should be shut down.

We played Palmetto on Friday with two Life Style visitors. They were not impressed with the condition on the course. This did not leave a good impression on the FREE GOLF statement.

Following your logic then the championship courses should be in great shape and they are NOT! ......but let's keep building more holes so we can say we have more golf holes then any other community? Why not take care of the ones we have first!

Don’t the exec’s belong to the District?

Poor conditions combined with an epidemic of sprouting poa annua. Spreading from the fringe onto the green. The only way to get rid of this is to kill the entire green and replant. Nothing kills poa annua without killing the rest of the grass.
