Played Volusia today. Greens fast, holes cut on slopes. Add strong wind and its a tough day!

Problem with fast greens is that people are 7 putting I kid you not. I had a group of 2 men and 2 women in front of me and I counted 25 putts among the four on the second hole. It’s going to be a LONG winter.

Depends on the wind direction. Fun course.

I think that with the cooler temperatures and some wind all of the greens are getting firmer and faster.

The Villages says to "Enjoy the game" and to hit from you power or your kill Tee-Box. But then place the pin right on the peek of a hill, no turning left of right just up and down, back and forth we go...
They must do it on Purpose!

Played Becall Thursday, have a RA tag, told me I could drive anywhere on par 3’s, but cart paths only on par 4’s. Made no sense.

USGA rules on hole location........

The USGA suggests that at least a 2-foot radius surrounding the hole “should be as nearly level as possible and of uniform grade.” The hole shouldn’t be placed on a steep slope on which a missed putt from above the hole will roll a long distance past the cup. “A player above the hole should be able to stop the ball at the hole,” according to Rule 15-3(iii). Additionally, the hole shouldn’t be located on a former hole’s spot until the old location has healed completely.

I sure wish The Villages had a clue on this. It's a joke and an embarrassment in regards to this one subject.

They are cutting holes on slopes on the championship courses also. Take the enjoyment out of round.

Hole #3 on Volusia is my favorite Executive course hole. Par 4, with fence/trees all the way along the left. A rolling steep hill almost down to the green. Large water to the right of the green down an embakement. This is the hole that has the large ship bell to ring by the foursome in front when they finally make it to the green, as it can't be seen well up by the tee boxes. The the back foursome can tee off. A fun hole, I'm only saying that because I tend to be kinda lucky there, have made par about 1/2 the time played.
