He is a wonderful cook - but I made the beef bourguignon - one big plus of the Bridgeport is a kitchen big enough for two (ditto the shower - but I guess that is TWO benefits)

Is Boomer in TV right now? Does anyone know the planned dates of her trip? Did she show up at Crispers incognito?

She has gone silent - maybe traveling incognito. Oh Boomer, come out, come out wherever you are...

Boomer 09-21-2009 09:22 PM

No. Not silent. Exactly. Just afraid to type anything. I started talking like a saucy wench on "Talk Like A Pirate Day" and I could not stop talking that way. I have been in hiding for two days. Aye! Me thinks me be OK now though.

And then tonight I had to watch two hours of sitcoms, the only good one being "The Big Bang Theory" and btw, if somebody ever is genius enough to come up with a way to block those stupid laugh tracks, that will be a great contribution to mankind, not to mention making the genius rich as rich can be. I hate laugh tracks. But I digress.....

Anyway, still in Cincinnati but starting to narrow my focus on when to pry loose from this place.

And now I have to go watch "House" that I just recorded or Tivo'd or DVR'd or whatever you call it these days. Geez. I am turning into a real vidiot tonight. I cannot seem to stop watching television. But I stopped by here and saw that you girls thought I was there incognito. Nope. Not there yet. I do have my big sunglasses all ready though.

Boomer

sschuler1 09-21-2009 09:31 PM

Boomer - You must let us know when you have decided upon a date to come down. Don't go incognito....let us meet up with you. Definitely try to make it to the TOTV luncheon!

Boomer

Boomer, you are being so elusive about your travel plans. :rant-rave: Doncha dare come to The Bubble without alerting us first! And perhaps you can even bring Annie to the dog park. I know she's an old girl, but it is surprising how much doggies love that place.

Whalen 09-21-2009 10:11 PM

Ah Boomer,
A gal after me own heart, just finished watching my dvr'd House.
Don't you just love the good doctor?

He is a hottie - just loved him in Sense and Sensibility....

Boomer 09-22-2009 02:57 PM

Last night's 2-hour "House" episode was the best thing I have seen on television in a really long time. It had shades of "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and some wonderful acting. And lots to think about. And, girls, it also had one hot scene, ever so tastefully done. If you like the show and you missed this one, you must find a way to track it down.

Boomer

graciegirl 09-22-2009 04:06 PM

I am not a "House" watcher but..........

Maybe I should be after hearing your raves.

I am completely enamored of the fellow who plays the lead on "The Mentalist."

oatmealgirls 09-22-2009 04:20 PM

I know what you mean!

I think it's his smile, and carefree (& caring & cunning?) ways, but also his seriousness about the loss of his wife and daughter. Maybe, most especially, for how he makes you believe that he can see inside, get right to the core. OK, enough! LOL

Ohmygosh, GG and Oatmealgirls, me too!! I love that guy. I always watch The Mentalist. Who could not love a hot guy with so much moral character. He is faithful to his murdered wife.

Did you see the episode where some hot chicks tried to pick him up and he said he was married and touched his wedding ring. So sad.

Where's Boomer?

OK, I don't know about the rest of my "sisters" on this thread but I am finding myself wondering where Boomer has been. It matters not what she writes, reading her posts are always enjoyable. She weaves a seemingly random thought into an expressive story one is able to visualize so clearly. Especially the after midnight entries.

I NEED my Boomer fix.

Boomer where are you?

Boomer last posted Oct 3 on another thread, so I think she is alive and booming. Or maybe she is sliding into TV incognito!

I'm wondering if anyone has visited Coldwater Creek yet, I'd love to hear some comments.

I have a question. Sarah Palin wears Designer rimless glasses. Does anyone know where to buy a similar type of glasses? I've looked here in Canada and can't find anything similar.
I'll be in TV by the end of October .. for a six month stay. I'm so excited I have bubbles in my pee. :pepper2: (Oh, maybe Tony will delete that!)

Bubbles in your pee????? OMG, Bare you really are nuts... you belong down here with the rest of the nuts.

I'm also trying to find Sarah Palin glasses, all the girlfriends are telling me I need them now for my new look. When you get here, we'll go searching for them together. Can't wait until you get here, should I have another party?????? Oh by that time, I'll have recovered from this last one. Hurry down, Bare, I need new glasses.....

KathieI 10-05-2009 03:58 PM

Ohhhh, don't embarrass me now, Bare, but I'm working on it....

I'm gonna have Michele Obama/Kelly Rippa arms, I'm back to being a redhead, I have HUGE smile on my face because I'm living here, andddd......

I'm in love!!!!!
:sigh:

KathieI 10-05-2009 04:00 PM

Oh, and one of our friends just sent me this link....

graciegirl 10-05-2009 04:14 PM

Quick someone give us an update on Kathies beau.

Mercy sakes. Kathie is in love. What exciting news.(Who is this lucky guy?)

Those new glasses are the thing. I made a huge ruckus until my best friends husband changed his old aviators into them. My husband, Sweetie says he can't see worth a dang but he honored my request to get those frames. He says the bigger out of style frames hold the lenses better and don't get all whopper jawed.

I think I am a pill.

I think Boomer is in TV and being VERY quiet.

nONIE 10-05-2009 04:32 PM

GG, Your hubby is right, I got those new glasses and feel all whopper jawed, but what does that mean?? Whatever it is I feel it and besides that I cant see out of them worth a darn!

Nonie, you got rimless Sarah Palin-type glasses? And you don't like them? Can someone explain whopper jawed?

Kathie, I checked out that designer website .. perfect, that is exactly what I want. Just one little problem, I have this irrational fear of ordering anything over the internet. (Except for spa gifts and spa certificates at Christmas cuz I'm so lazy). So I guess I'll just be visiting optical stores after I arrive.

Yes, I can definitely see Kathie as a redhead. I think she is in love with life these days, and that is a very good thing.

nONIE 10-05-2009 04:52 PM

Well, Bare, I always had rimless glasses in the hopes that it would look like im not wearing glasses,(ya think it worked?) LOL they were big and round and now there squinty skinny and rimless, but ya know, I didnt even realize they were Sarah Palin glasses when I ordered them.

Boomer 10-06-2009 09:34 AM

Hi Girls,

Nope. Not there. Still in Ohio. But I am on my :cus::cus::cus: laptop and it has issues. I had written an entire dissertation on floors for Another Linda and just as I had finished, it went poof and I could not find it anywhere. I know all about composing in "Word" but yet I continue to walk on the wild side and just write this stuff in the little box.

And recently, I find that I am all logged in and then I get booted out. I do not take it personally. I know it is my :cus::cus::cus: laptop. I had to check my real computer into rehab a few days ago. I think it will get out soon though. I got a report yesterday that it is doing well and recovering from being Boomer's computer for all these TOTV posts and might be able to have another run at it.

And Barefoot, sometimes I think this place is the Twilight Zone. I saw your post about Coldwater Creek yesterday. And guess where I was yesterday, here in my parallel universe, Twilight Zone in Ohio. Yep. Coldwater Creek. In fact, to prove it, I am going to show everybody one of the jackets I bought.

http://www.coldwatercreek.com/Produc...k=jackets.aspx

Well, I am hurrying out of here now, all on my own decision, before this :cus::cus::cus: laptop boots me out. (and apologies for all the bad language this morning)

Halle 10-06-2009 10:50 AM

Hi Boomer,

I love the jacket.

To shift gears I also had a problem with my computer, for the first time a virus (pro spy 2009 or something close to that) was able to infiltrate and really was causing problems. I contacted my Tech Support, my son and was going to have him fix it for me he is a computer guru, and shhh English Major :icon_wink:, but Mr. Halle decided to Google the problem and found a fix for it a Malware program. It was able to kill the virus and computer is working great. We have saved thousand of dollars in car repair, water softner repair and numerous other repairs by using Google and finding others users who had similiar problems and what the fixes were.

I love Google.

I hope I don't have the appearance of being a stalker...here it goes:
Thank You Boomer!!! :mademyday:

Regarding those rimless Sarah Palin glasses, I too have pondered if I would be able to pull that look off. I was told one and only one time that I resembled Sarah Palin. Perhaps that guy needed a pair of glasses himself.:icon_wink: As luck would have it, I have an appointment with my optometrist today and I'm headed off to go eyeglass shopping immediately following my visit.

Kathie, you must be such a wild child with that new red hair of yours!

Boomer, great jacket from CC .. love it! I can hardly wait to do some shopping in the new Villages store. I always hesitate to order online as I don't know how the CC sizes run. So far I've only ordered shawls online.

Julie, please keep me posted on the results of your eyeglass shopping .... I am VERY interested. I think the Designer Palins have titanium which make them very light. I would love to find something similar.

Boomer 10-06-2009 04:03 PM

Now....that's just plain weird.....

Girls,

Did you see the part where Halle said she loved the jacket?

Halle, thank goodness you said that or I would have absolutely no credibility left at all. I just looked back at that link I put here this morning and it now says that the jacket is sold out. But there really, truly was a jacket in that link when I left here this morning. Right? Halle? Ohhhhh, Halle! Please tell them there really was a jacket there.

Hey! Maybe all of you bought one like it at Coldwater Creek, since I last saw you this morning. And that's how it sold out! Now that would be just about the coolest thing ever. We could all wear matching jackets and get a gig being backup singers for somebody at LSL. (oooo--shoo-bop--shoo-bop)

Anyway, there really was a jacket in the link this morning.

I must go now. This infernal laptop will probably boot me out soon anyway. But I just had to stop by here and tell you about the weird disappearing jacket thing.

Boomer

When I looked earlier in the day it showed a brown fitted jacket with embroidery on it. Is that the one? It was beautiful!

Boomer 10-06-2009 04:51 PM

on off on off on off on off on off on off on

Betti,

Yes. That was it. And now I just looked and it is back again. I swear it really did say that it was sold out. Did they restock that quickly?

Ohhhhh, I really didn't imagine that "sold out" thing. This is getting way too goofy. I think I will just stop looking at that silly link.

I really am sane. Really. Really. I am.

But I think my laptop is out to get me.

Boomer

PS: Halle, thanks for the malware tip.

sschuler1 10-06-2009 05:21 PM

Yes, Boomer! You are crazy....but not about the jacket. I like it very much! Folkloric kind of fits "you" too. You're so good at telling stories.

katezbox 10-06-2009 05:23 PM

Boomer,

I started a post about the jacket. Then I deleted it. Now I wish I had left well enough alone. I like the jacket - for Ohio. But, I haven't lived here year round yet and can't quite get past my love of the colors down here. I wasn't sure i could say that without hurting your feelings. It is such a beautiful jacket..,.

There I've gone and said it and I hope I haven't been hateful....

kate

Boomer 10-06-2009 06:05 PM

SS, that is a funny name for a jacket. I did not know the name of it when I bought it in the store. But it is kind of an English majory name. Not that I am an English major, of course.

And Kate. Kate. Kate. Kate. Kate.

Now, you listen to Boomer right now. You must never worry about such a thing because you could never in a million years be considered hateful. That would just never happen. There are some things that I just know.

All you said was that you like more color. It is not like you said, "Hey! Boomer! That is one butt-ugly jacket you bought at Coldwater Creek."

Seriously, Kate, not hateful in the least.

And about those colors, do you remember that thing when we were all supposed to be a season and people were always having their colors done. Well, I never had my colors done, but I do know that we all tend to go for certain colors individually. I will go for browns and blues and dark greens and black and white and a little red on an adventurous day. That's for clothes. But I do have a yellow plaid couch now. And although I worry a lot about red wine spills, I love that couch.

Boomer

katezbox 10-06-2009 06:26 PM

Oh Boomer, you do make me laugh. Mostly I want you to not want an Ohio jacket because I do not want you to be in Ohio. Or, to put it another way, I do want you to be in The Villages.

k

OK, so I went shopping for my glasses and even picked some out. They will be here in a week or two. The Sarah Palin designer glasses were not available so I ended up with some glasses that have a frame on top, but not the bottom. I was too afraid to purchase them online. I really need to see them on my face.

Shopping for glasses has always been a challenge for me: Do they look right with my face shape? Are they contempory yet, classic and able to remain in style for a couple of years? Does my nose appear to grow when I wear them?

Boomer, the coat is VERY cute and stylish too. I didn't order one since I'm on the "no purchase" plan until I get to TV which should be sometime during the 2nd week of November. After that my husband won't be able to hold me back! I'll probably know all of the sales people at every store in town within less than a month. :clap2:

oatmealgirls 10-06-2009 10:41 PM

Boomer, love the jacket!!

Always enjoy your posts.

It's obvious you will cause quite a sensation when you get to TV!! And now, no one can accuse you of being incognito :) .

re computer stuff,
When I'm on our unpredictable laptop And,,,, I remember to do it (which means it's after I have lost the message because of.....whatever), I will copy the message (you know you can do this with the right click on your mouse, right?) before hitting the submit reply button. Anyway, you then have copied your post and it's guaranteed not to crash! (LOL) But you've got it in case you need it.

Boomer 10-06-2009 10:57 PM

ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh! Oats! I knew nothing of this right click thing. Thanks. I am so bad with computers. I never knew what the right click was for. I always thought it was kind of like tonsils or the appendix.

Julie, I thought you were buying glasses now in TV and I wanted to copycat the store you selected. But I think you may also be a seasonal resident??

I also wait for my time in Florida to buy clothes .. I cannot believe how inexpensive everything is compared to Canada!!

Boomer, I saw the disappearing jacket .. obviously the basement seamstresses that produce the jacket were able to quickly stitch up another 100. I do like it a lot.
