I know how you feel. Soon it will be me packing and getting ready to leave. >:( >:( I will be SO sad to leave TV for six months. I can't bear the thought of leaving. However, as Nonnie pointed out, you are only a keyboard away. And Donna, we "seasonal residents" will never take TV for granted. To us it will always be a paradise waiting for our return. lovehorse |
Re: Girl Talk
Donna, I'll be going home to Pa in May for a few weeks. Want a ride back down????

Re: Girl Talk
Your welcome Nonie. Hope it enhances the group's experience.

Re: Girl Talk
BBB - Help!!
I went to buy an exercise ball, they come in 55cm, 65cm and 75cm. To use as a desk chair. I am short but have a normal desk. What size do I need? I want to start bouncing around when I type. Great idea. BF |
Re: Girl Talk
Hi Barefoot,
When this exercise ball is blown up, it is about 24 inches (before I sit on it). At that point it still has a nice amount of bounce. You don't want to blow them up too big. I am on the short side of 5 ft. 5 inches tall. It has been so long since I bought this thing, that I think they probably only had one size then. I wonder why they have 3 sizes. I would be confused, too. I hope this helps. If not, maybe someone at the wellness center can help you if they use them there. Actually, if you are still not sure, I think your best hope may be Another Linda finding out from the guy in her office. When spring comes, I will take it outside to the patio and sit on it and drink coffee in the mornings. Maybe when we move to TV, I won't even have any chairs at the table, maybe just exercise balls. Good luck. Boomer |
Re: Girl Talk
Hi,
When I was in Physical Therapy I had to sit on the ball to help improve my balance, than I would sit on a chair and role the ball in different directions - to relieve problems I was experiencing stemming from my back. HB |
Re: Girl Talk
Hi Sistahs, this is my first post on this thread. But I wanted to tell you all that I never felt so accepted and loved as I did this trip. You all are great ladies and I enjoyed all my time with you. I'm sorry I didn't have more quality time to spend, cause I was so darn busy with the priorities I set up, but I did have a lot of fun in between errands. Lunches, dinners, parties, and just gatherings were so great and I can't wait to spend more time with all of you.
BTW, I'm finally in L.A. arrived this morning since I missed my flight last night, but caught a 7am this morning. But, hope to return mid April and then finally May as my permanent residence. Will bring Dad at that time and we'll arrange the wedding between Dad and Red. Gee, maybe a "June" wedding would be appropriate. HB what do you think about that?? Looking so forward to your friendship and companionship, and love all of you so much. Kathie |
Re: Girl Talk
Hi Kathie,
A June wedding sounds perfect. We will be here. I think we should have it at your new home. Lake in the background on all the wedding pictures will look great. I do not think it will be a problem if we have balloons on your property so that everyone will know where your house is. Bridesmaids - have you thought of how many? You have a lot of sistahs now. Wonder if anyone can play an instrument? Will look for a CD that has the wedding march on it. I am sure they must sell one. This will be the SOCIAL EVENT of the year. If Craig is here, he can officiate. Hubby has performed a wedding also. I think the couple should write their own vows, what do you think? Hyacinth Bucket |
Re: Girl Talk
HB -
Love all your ideas. The lake in the background will look beautiful. I have plenty of outdoor area to handle hundreds of guests, so it will be the social event of TV for the year. Can you picture Red in that beautiful gown and veil on her avatar picture? She will be absolutely beautiful. And Dad, will look so cute in his suit he wears to all the funerals, only I'll have to hem the pants cause he has shrunk of late, but he hasn't gained a pound, so it will fit for sure. We must have a band cause he will want to do the Lindy Hop with his new bride, and of course he'll also want to dance with all the bridesmaids so we'll need to keep it to six or seven ladies, otherwise we could tire him out. Poor Dad, don't think I've mentioned all this to him yet but he's such a sport, he'll love it. Well, at 91 (or 92 by that time), what's not to love, even waking up in the morning. Sounds perfect to me, Kathie |
Re: Girl Talk
I wont be here in June!!!!
Oh well, guess thats a great excuse to fly down, I sure cant miss this wedding, or the opportunity to dance with a 92 year old man. Mabe I could jump out of the wedding cake and belly dance for him!! LOL |
Re: Girl Talk
Nonie, you have to be there. What's a party without Nonie. As a matter of fact, you may even be a bridesmaid, but I guess Red will have to decide that....
Good excuse, fly down for the wedding, we need you there. Love, Kath PS, Jump out of wedding cake and belly dance??? He'll love that. |
Re: Girl Talk
Hi Kathie,
Now we can check off live entertainment. We have Nonie! Perhaps she can get her sistahs to dance with her? Sure hope so. I like the idea of Nonie coming out of the wedding cake. Nonie, THANK YOU for the offer and the idea. Sounds fantastic. Hyacinth Bucket |

I bought the 65 cm ball, the middle one of three sizes. It comes with an inflation device, as soon as I figure it out (Fireboy has gone back to Canada), I'll be bouncing around to the click of keys. 024 Thanks for the suggestion BBB. If anyone hears a loud crash, it is me on the floor, call 911. |
Re: Girl Talk
Um, if you think I can get into that wedding gown, think again. It was a size 2 that had to be taken in. I can however wear the Juliet cap and veil. Maybe the rest of the wedding dress can be a harem costume with coins and all and my bridesmaids and I can do hip pops down the aisle.
Let's see, maid of honor will have to be a duo -- Jess and my new daughter-in-law. Bridesmaids will be Nonie (of course), Kiddo, SamHass and Donna to outshine the bride. I'd ask Hyacinth but I imagine she'll be too busy running the show to participate. :( I think my daughter-in-law to be and her father should pick the best man and groomsmen. Since I do have a true love of sterling roses and lilacs, the color scheme will have to lavendar. HB, you are free to pick any colors you choose to go with that. I guess I'll have to look around TV to see where the best places for bridal registry are. BTW -- I'd love a surprise bridal shower. Have never had a surprise party. (How's that for a not-so-subtle hint?) |
Re: Girl Talk
OMG Red,
Im so honered! I never dreamed you would ask me to be a bridesmaid! Ok , so now Im responsible for the bachelorette party right??? OOOO are we gonna have fun! :hot: |
Re: Girl Talk

Registry, how about WalMart? Your new daughter in law, Kath |
Re: Girl Talk
Kathie,
Since Handie lives outside of Walmart, he could be the registrar. Lavender is my favorite color - Red. Nonie would be excellent in her harem bridesmaid dress. Instead of hip hop Red, how about doing a belly dance down the aisle. IMPORTANT all Sistahs, start looking around for lavender items for the bride to be. Lavender anything. We could all wear lavender eye shadow and have our fingernails painted lavender. Groom could also have lavender accents. Will have to look for lavender curtains and drapes at yard sales. This will definitely be the social event of the year. HB |
Re: Girl Talk
Great!!!
I'll see if I can find Dad's lavender suit with the pink ruffled shirt. He'll look "dashing" dahlings! Kathie |
Re: Girl Talk
I was thinking more in the line of the Dollar Store or K-Mart but WalMart would work, too.
FYI -- I don't wear lavendar. Hey, Kathie, you're going to have to break the news to Jess. I admit it, I'm a coward and not sure how she is going to handle a dad at this stage of her life, let alone a sister who is also an auntie to her. |
Re: Girl Talk
Yaaaa! Have to start collecting my bubbles bangles and beads! And practicing my shimmys!! What fun were gonna have sistah's!
This thread is allowing our imaginations to run wild! Needed some intellectual stimulation my brain has been on R&R in TV. Hey, any ideas for the bachelorette party? |
Re: Girl Talk
Red, you wrote "Since I do have a true love of sterling roses and lilacs, the color scheme will have to lavender. "
You will not have to wear lavender. It can still be your color scheme. Nonie - yes this is fun, but your brain will have to be put into gear to put all the pieces of the puzzle together. Bachelorette party and bride-to-be also requested a shower. She said she never had one. Just recalled Tony saying he is/was part of the Chippendale's. He can jump out of our cake and do his thing. Why don't you head up the Bachelorette party? I think we should get The Great Fumar and Handie to head up the Bachelor Party. Don't know if Peech will be down here for this event. HB |
Re: Girl Talk
ok, ok, Ill resign my position of jumping out of the cake to Tony.
Putting puzzles together was never my thing, Ill just go along with whatever duties I am given. Im an obedient child. Hb, your a great planner, you plan we do! |
Re: Girl Talk
I would be very happy to jump out of the cake...http://www.millan.net/minimations/sm...multistars.gif

Re: Girl Talk
Lavender????? Lavender???? :edit: Red, I would look awful in lavender. But I thank you profusely for the compliment! At our ages we need all we can get. Before this wedding, should someone sit you down and tell you about the birds and the bees? :)
|
Re: Girl Talk
Sam, I wonder if the story of the birds and the bees is different when the groom-to-be is 92 years old?? Hmmmm, think its the same? I don't know and I'm not asking.... :dontknow:
P.S. you'll look lovely in any color. Maybe we should have a rainbow theme? All bridesmaids will wear the color of their choice?? OMG, could you see that! Kath (daughter of the groom-to-be) |
Re: Girl Talk
I would NEVER ask my friends to wear pastels! I think bridesmaids look lovely in black, blue or whatever they choose so long as it would complement a lavendar theme.
As to the birds and bees talk, let's just skip that one, please. I have all the faith in the world that a 92-year-old male will be happy to teach me anything I don't know. So, who's going to plan the bachelor party? |
Re: Girl Talk
Hey Sistah's
Sears is having a clearance on dresses. 90% off. Check them out in the clearance section. Maybe you can find wedding attire for the Wedding of the Year. :dontknow: |

Re: Girl Talk
I had a rock guy at my house today installing 11 tons of rock. He is in his mid 20s and was working without his shirt on. Sadly, I had to leave and go to Yoga. I guess women like eye candy just as much as men do.
BBB, haven't inflated my bouncy ball yet. Nonie knows how to do stuff and she is coming over to fix my vacuum cleaner, perhaps she can inflate my ball also. Thanks Nonie. |

BF,
Ive been told Im full of hot air, but enough to inflate your baLL??? Hmmm, I dont think so! ::) |
Re: Girl Talk
BF and Nonie,
Hi, I have a foot attachment that you use to blow up the balls, let me know if you need it. When I was in physical therapy I used the ball to help with a minor balance problem. It was an easy exercise. One was to walk around sitting on the ball without falling off of it, the other was to sit on a chair, bend over and glide the ball to the left, center and right - this latter problem had to deal with the aging process and my spine. The exercises did help. Hyacinth Bucket |
Re: Girl Talk
Nonie,
For those of us who can not belly dance perhaps we could bring our balls and do some of the movements sitting on the ball. It could be fun. HB |
Re: Girl Talk
Hi, on our other thread, Girlfriends, there is a posting about Villages 07 golf achievement. She hit a hole in one.
I think she is the first one of our group who has accomplished this. I guess you could say she is our number :#1: golfer. Hyacinth Bucket |
Re: Girl Talk
Happy IVGLDSW Day!
Today is International Very Good Looking, Damn Smart Woman's Day, so I'm forwarding this to all of you. ;) And remember this motto to live by: Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO what a ride!' You've probably heard these before .. but you may enjoy them again.................. Inside every older person is a younger person -- wondering what the hell happened. - Cora Harvey Armstrong Inside me lives a skinny woman crying to get out. But I can usually shut her up with cookies. (Unknown) The hardest years in life are those between ten and seventy. - Helen Hayes (at 73) I refuse to think of them as chin hairs. I think of them as stray eyebrows. - Janette Barber Old age ain't no place for sissies . -Bette Davis Thirty-five is when you finally get your head together and your body starts falling apart. - Caryn Leschen I'm not going to vacuum 'til Sears makes one you can ride on. - Roseanne Barr Behind every successful man is a surprised woman. - Maryon Pearson Nobody can make you feel inferior without your permission. -Eleanor Roosevelt When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila and salt and call me over; I'll drive you home ! And my personal favourite ... If you can't be a good example -- then you'll just have to be a horrible warning! |
Re: Girl Talk
Loved these BF but I wish I still had that 35 year old body! ;)
If our bodies were falling apart at 35, what are they going thru now??? |
Re: Girl Talk
Barefoot,
Thanks for posting them. They are wonderful thoughts. HB |
Re: Girl Talk
I got out Fireboy's tool box and fixed my vacuum cleaner. Yay!!
For those of you who are handy, I know you're yawning and saying "so what". But I am a total nerd as far as anything that resides in a tool box. :dontknow: So I am proud of myself. This week I had 11 tons of river rock delivered and spread. No I didn't do that myself, just supervised. The palm tree is now upright, no longer lying in the driveway! I am still working on blowing up my new ball/chair. I find living in TV (with Fireboy spending the month of March working in Canada) is very empowering. I am finding out I can survive quite nicely --- women rule!! ;) TOTV is a wonderful site, and has introduced me to great people. When Fireboy is gone, I know I can pick up the phone and I have a built-in support group. Thanks to Beady, Nonie, Chels, Village Kid, V7, Samhass, Mint Julep, HB & SL, Mom2Five, and all the other people who have helped me along the way. |
Re: Girl Talk
Barefoot, You go girl!!!!! :clap2: :clap2:
For someone who didn't even know the difference between a phillips head and a regular screwdriver you have accomplished a lot.  Now, can you come over and help me put my new desk together. ;D ;D On a serious note: The network of women here is wonderful and I am grateful in advance for all the support I know I would have if needed. A very comforting thought when you are new to a community, and sometimes going it alone. lovehorse |
