Default Ten Beauty Commandments for the Eyes...

The Beauty Commandments are back and this time taking a close look at our eyes. What we shall or shall not do when it comes to eye beauty. Worried about dark circles? Looking to expand your eyeshadow collection? Vaseline could be your new best friend. Afraid your eyes will betray your age? Here's a couple of tricks to take care of that!

1. Thou shall make use of potatoes to get bright eyes. A thin slice of potato on your eyelid gradually lightens the skin around your eyes. It works! Take a potato, slice it VERY thin, and place it on your eyes like you would a cucumber. Leave it on for 5-10 minutes. Say bye-bye to those dark circles!"

2. Thou shall not match thy eyebrow color to thy hair color. Playing the "matchy-matchy" game is a huge no-no in this case. Eyebrow color should be one to two shades lighter or darker than the hair on your head--darker for lighter hair and lighter for darker hair (with a few exceptions, of course). Could you imagine walking around with platinum blonde hair and matching eyebrows? The top half of your face would disappear leaving a really enormous forehead. Stick to the rule and you'll create a nice contrast while defining your beautiful features.

3. Thou shall replace thy expensive eye cream with plain vitamin E oil. Vitamin E oil is chock full of antioxidants and is an intense moisturizer. Many of the high-priced, chemical-laden eye creams do nothing more than what can be accomplished with this natural product. Just slap on a bit of the vitamin E oil under your eyes and eyelids each night before bed. There is no greasy residue left from it as it sinks right in. Take yourself out to dinner with the money that you save!

4. Thou shall wear a smoky eye during the day. No one said that a smoky look had to be only at night. Instead of using dark colors like gray and black, try using purple to play up a nice day look. And don't be afraid of color! People often use only brown or tan on their eyes, afraid that the color will look bad on them. The trend is color, everyone! It's never going to hurt to try and see how it looks on you. If you have green/hazel eyes try a plum or purple and brown eyes try a blue.

5. Thou shall never use too much glitter. The woman who wears so much eye glitter she is easily mistaken as the fairy queen! Dab a little bit in the corner of your eyes for that wow factor, or line your bottom lashes with a light sparkle to showcase your beautiful eyes. Less is more, especially when it comes to eye glitter!

6. Thou shall take care of thy dark circles from the kitchen. Take one teaspoon of fresh tomato juice, add it to 1/2 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice and a little less then a teaspoon of Gram flour. Mix all these thoroughly to make a nice thick paste. Apply this paste to the dark circles on the eyes and let sit for 10 minutes. Before it gets too dry, start removing it by rubbing very gently with the fingers. Thereafter, wash your face. Do this once daily and you will see dark circles diminish and disappear within just a few days. If you have any other dark spots on your face you can always up the ingredients and turn the whole thing into a face mask.

7. Thou shall lather on Nivea cream. Apply Nivea cream (the original blue plastic jar) by the handful over eyebrows, eyelids and on the skin around the eye area. Gently massages it into the eye area and then sit quietly with eyes closed for five minutes. Oddly enough, the skin absorbs all of it.

8. Thou shall reach for a bottle of grape seed oil. Dip your finger in a bottle of grapeseed oil and gently massage the oil around the outer corners of your eyes. This will instantly moisturize your eyes and it works great as an eye makeup remover. If you're having a hard time finding grape seed oil, go for the extra virgin olive oil.

9. Thou shall make the most of thy eyeshadow. Don't spend extra money on buying both cream and powder eyeshadows. Want the pretty sheen of a cream shadow? Simply apply your normal powder shadow as a base and cover it with a very thin coat of Vaseline (not enough for it to begin to feel heavy). Your normal eyeshadow will gain new life and a modern twist!

10. Thou shall not point. Remembering that the skin around your eye is very delicate, NEVER use your pointer finger to apply any creams, gels or makeup. Using the ring finger will cut down on the damage too much pressure can cause. Make sure you don't rub but use a delicate dabbing motion at all times. If you are experiencing any puffiness, try wetting tea bags and placing them on your eyes. This not only cuts down on the amount of dabbing but the tannins in tea act as an astringent that helps reduce puffiness as well!
