Oh Nonie, you are so good...that's exactly what I should be doing....

You will be glad ;D when you have lost the weight and I will be sad :'( because all I can wear is a caftan.

Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?

Beady, Don't you worry about a thing. We can be the caftan sisters....royal sisters of Omar the Tent Maker. ;) ;) We shall dine on baklava and all sorts of tasty treats. Though we may be pleasingly plump, we do take our good health into consideration...as long as it doesn't interfere with our lifestyle to much. I think sometimes the joy and laughter we share during a fine meal somehow offsets some of the calories.

Sam is absolutely 100% correct. If you laugh and talk while you eat, add in some hand motions to express yourself even further - all those movements equals the latest exercise program and therefore you have lost calories.

Moral of this is that you should laugh more, express yourselves also with your hands and talk. This will be the newest exercise fad to hit the country.

Perhaps we could make a top selling DVD?

Question, how do you get enough fiber on a low carb diet? I need to have 26 grams of fiber a day?

Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?

HB, I don't know if this would work for you, but I take 2000 mg of Flax Oil per day (1000 in the AM & 1000 in PM). Since I really dislike yogurt, I also take Probio-Wellness digestive enzymes AM & PM to get those "healthy bacteria" in me, and since I don't eat anything that comes out of the water I take Omega-3 purified fish oil ( researched and found some that does not repeat on you). My cholesterol was higher than the MD wanted (216) so that's why I began this regimen. You can also buy flax seeds and put it on your cereal, but to me it feels gritty doh

Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?

HB, You have to grind the flax seeds or your body can't digest them. I think they taste like banana nut bread and love them on my cereal. I grind them in a food mill and add them to cakes, cookies, muffins, rice, etc.

Hyacinth Bucket 08-09-2008 07:03 PM

Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?

Thanks for all the great info.

I will look into the Flax seed. Not to sure if I will grind it though - I need to chew to feel full. Liquid diets never worked for me for that reason.

We take fish oil every day because the ophthalmologist said it is good for your body. Since I haven't met a food I haven't liked I eat yogurt nearly every day.

I can't believe how fast you both responded - appreciate it.

HB, as I recall, you're the one who told me that calories consumed at the kitchen counter while standing up don't count. I'm beginning to suspect that some of your information isn't entirely accurate or I'd be a size smaller than I am. :dontknow:

My rule is that chocolate consumed from the freezer at 3 am when you can't sleep is used as a sedative and is therefore calorie free. ;)

Spent a wonderful evening with great, dear friends. Then had a really refreshing drive home in the golf cart in a wet bathing suit. I've decided it felt so good, I'm going to drive around more in wet clothing! :o I love it.

Bare, the ice cream sedative at 3am is the best. And you'll get to sleep faster when you add chocolate sauce. yummmmm.

HB, it is correct that dark chocolate is heart medicine. It also helps with mood swings (so evey woman needs it)! However dark chocolate does contain calories unless eaten at 3 AM. Not sure why, just one of life's little unexplained mysteries. I think it is the same principle as .. "If no-one sees you eat it, it has no calories".

People often remark that I always eat salads and I'm very self disciplined. hahaha 1rnfl If they only knew that a quart of chocolate ice cream lasts me about 10 minutes. But I consume it sitting in the dark in the garage, therefore it is calorie free.

You're welcome.

Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?

Let me see if I understand all of this diet info correctly so I can lose weight like Nonie is.
1. Daily exercise regimen:
A. Walking to refrigerator/freezer at 3 am each day. Before I can do that I need to do the following exercises.
B. First I must go from the house to the car.
C. Then I need to park the car and walk to the store.
D. In the store I need to continue my walking exercise to purchase necessary weight loss items.
E. From there I walk to the check out counter.
F. To increase loss of calories I will now walk to the car and drive home.
G. Followed by even more exercise - take out diet chocolate (because it is eaten at 3 am) items, bring them to the freezer.
H. (I hope I have enough energy to wake up at 3 am to eat my diet foods, will set alarm clock [more calories burned off] then collapse from all this exercise.

Foods eaten standing - no calories
Foods eaten when no one in looking - no calories
Crumbs - have no calories
Ends of pieces when eaten standing - no calories
Sundaes, Banana Splits, Malted, Shakes and ice cream when you place a grape tomato on them are no longer considered desserts but a salad. Everyone knows salads are low in calories.
Cheese cake needs to be eaten daily to fulfill calcium requirements.
Cakes, Pies, scones and similar items when a sliver of fruit (your choice) is placed on the top is then considered fulfilling your daily requirement of fruit.
Breads and rolls are considered extremely important to your daily health only if you sprinkle Flax Seed on them - daily fiber requirements.
I think Bare also mentioned that if you eat something in the dark or in a closet or a garage those foods absolutely have no calories - you are standing.

Foods that contain calories - all foods eaten when sitting down EXCEPT for foods eaten with others while talking and laughing.

I hope I now have my new diet plan correct. :yikes: OMG it is 4:42 am in NY, I missed my 3 am chocolate for my heart.

From Bare,
HB, it is correct that dark chocolate is heart medicine. It also helps with mood swings (so every woman needs it)! However dark chocolate does contain calories unless eaten at 3 AM. Many thanks! I think your comprehensive weight loss plan covers every aspect. I'm pleasantly surprised that it is easy to follow too! I was pleased to receive the information from Blondie that sea salt turns potato chips into a health food. And HB, I am very glad to hear that adding a cherry tomato to ice cream turns it into salad, another good healthy choice. I'm relieved that I no longer have to eat my ice cream in the dark in the garage.

I expect we'll all shortly see a reduction of several dress sizes.

Well I haven't changed my eating habits, so I am still fat and sassy...the sassy part is with me fat or thin, what I have changed is my avatar.

Just as I was about to strike out on my own, eliminating Tom from my screen name...he's a big boy now and has gotten his own name...sorry not allowed to reveal it he likes freaking Sam out. Anyway just as I was being my own woman...our dear Johnny comes up with a new avatar for me/us. Me, really cause Tom never says anything under this name.

Anyway I have a new avatar that brings to mind the old song "Are you a boy....or are you a girl...." I think Johnny did a great job...genius at work as usual.

So for now I will retire my wiggle, she will however, remain at the ever ready to sashay her way across my posts in the future. Meanwhile I am having an identity crisis. We have been married waaaaayyyyy to long and have become one!

1rnfl 040 That's a very good idea Bare! I'm sure they'd pay big bucks for it. BTW, my friend is opening up a "Chocolate Bar" in Vegas. It's an after hours place, meaning not open until midnight until 7am. All dishes and drinks will have chocolate or something to do with chocolate. I think the ladies will be dragging their husbands there in droves!

Supposed to be very dark, silky and sexy too! Yummmmm ;)

Hi Everyone, I just wanted to share with all of you something I have accomplished. As a t :edit: agent I need to take numerous courses, then take tests to prove that I have absorbed this knowledge correctly.

I reached the highest level in this field of endeavor with various cruise lines but with two cruise lines, both prominent - the P :edit: Line and Cun :edit: line, I was chosen to win a special award based on needs that I was able to recognize and at the same time provide a positive way to remedy this.

Now I am being asked to participate in a program to create a new course of study. I know it is just a course of study, like everyone else has achieved in their lives, but I wanted to let you know.

Today I went to a Cancer Ward with a friend who is dying of cancer. He has decided to have Chemotherapy, which cannot save his life, but may extend it a few weeks.

I sat in the Chemo Treatment Room and watched 10 people with cancer have their treatments. Some terminal, some with hope of recovery. All were smiling, polite, brave, social with each other, and appreciating whatever life they have left.

It is an inspiration! None of us have a long life promised to us. Please savor every day. We are all so blessed to be on this planet, especially those of us in good health.

aww Bare, we need to all remember and count our blessings everyday. My prayers are with you and your friends.

Vetman went through this a few years back and thank God it was caught in time. But he had to go for radiation and I remember sitting there waiting for him wondering how all of the people can be so cheerful and kind. There was a certain serenity to the clinic. The human spirit is an amazing thing.

One good thing I did for me today is send you love. Miss you dear friend, chels
