Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
Today was one of those days I will always remember. We drove down to our daughter's farm, with our son, who is always too busy working, to breathe. I got to spend the day with my wonderful husband, our son, daughter and son-in-law and my/our absolutely amazing grandchildren. We had a fantastic meal, great conversation and lots of fun with together. I am so lucky to have such a beautiful family. It really touches my soul.

Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
I stuck to my diet today!
The last 5 days have been :edit:. First, we had a Teacher Appreciation Pizza Luncheon last Wednesday. Then, on Friday, a dessert pot luck day at school. Friday evening, at our school carnival, I ate the most marvelous bbq (slow cooked all day right outside the school in a huge homemade bbq barrel type grill). After smelling the aroma all day long my willpower was shot! Saturday was a barn party and wild game bbq with tons of homemade salads (very fattening and very very good) and desserts that were to die for. The wild game...well... I don't even want to think about Mother's Day and the lip smacking bbq-ed chicken, corn on the cob, alfredo noodles, homemade rolls, artichoke dip, California rolls, and Magic Cookie Bars. Groaaaaaaaaan! Today I started all over again... |
Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
Today, I cheated on my diet a little bit with some Kettle Corn. Was that good for me??? YES! ;D
|
Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
Yesterday I went to lunch with a girlfriend I haven't seen in ages. She is having an affair (in Canada, not in TV, don't want to start any rumours!) So it was a long lunch. Broke down and had some carrot cake. Yummmmmm.

Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
I washed windows today. Lots of windows. Does that count?????
|
Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
Sam.....
Only if you like washing windows :dontknow: |
Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
Oh yeah, Beady. It was great fun. This is a huge house with two stories of glass in the kitchen, 18 glass doors in the house...I just counted..countless windows. I did not do them all. I realize now that when we lived here full time, all we did was work keeping this place looking amazing. I'm now older and smarter. This girl wants to have more fun. It's TV or bust, shortly. We have a great live in caretaker up here. He can do it.
|
Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
That definately qualifies as a good thing.....letting someone else do the window washing.
Get yourself back to TV soon. |
Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
I intend to. Very shortly.
|
Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
Bring your caretaker, my windows need washing! ;)
|
Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
Sam, we are all entranced by the idea of a caretaker washing our windows. Yes!! Can you send your caretaker to Ronda in TV by way of Canada? He should have a busy summer doing what we all hate to do. BTW, if you have dogs, windows stay clean approximately 2 1/2 minutes.
|
Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
I don't have dogs. As for the caretaker, I have to do all the things myself so he can see how I like them done. Ahhhhhhhhh, I adore clean. It puts order in my little world. I'm getting it together up here. We still haven't decided whether or not to put this house back up for sale. That means repeated trips back up here. I am so tired of that trip. Next week it's TV or bust!!! (Sure hope it's not bust!!!)
Today is a day of being on a tractor and mowing, then weed wacking. Mr Sam has been obsessed with his big John Deere, the Kubota RTV , chainsaw and wood splitter. He wants to put up about 10 cords of wood while we are up here. He loves being in the woods. I intend to drag him out to play poker tonight whether he wants to or not. A girl has to have some fun. I fear all this work will make me dull. On the bright side, by the time I return to TV, I should be "strong like bull" from all the stairs and manual labor. ;) |
Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
Lucky Sam, returning soon to TV. Sam, I completely understand the "man in the woods" syndrome. Fireboy is obsessed with cutting down trees with his chain saw, hauling them to the cottage with his backhoe, and then using his wood splitter. I'm supposed to do the stacking, ha ha. I'll be in the hot tub.
This year Fireboy is building a retaining wall at the Lake. Think of all the cutting and hauling. In some ways, it is rather endearing to see the little boy come out in a man. That is why we will always spend summers at the cottage, so he can move piles of dirt around with his backhoe. Oh well, I guess there are worse hobbies. Fireboy told me recently that he actually prefers the cottage to TV. I've arranged for him to have a frontal lobotomy next week to correct that thought. |
Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
Oooooooo Bare, I'm sort of turned on by the backhoe. I love toys that move earth, rock, etc.
|
Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
Spent part of the day with a good friend at a teacher conference. Spent the rest of the day sitting in the grass talking to my neighbor. Beautiful day.

Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
With all the pressure put on us teachers nowadays, I don't always have the time to really listen to stories my children want to tell. The day is short, the curriculum is demanding, and small talk is sometimes pushed aside.
Well, today...I made an effort to take extra time to listen to each and every story my 9 year olds wanted to share...and I listened giving each one my utmost attention. I hugged, high fived, laughed when appropriate, sighed when necessary, and truly enjoyed my kids for who they are. Not that I don't always enjoy them...but today was special. It was a wonderful day...not only for them...but for me, too! I hate to see them move on to 4th grade...wish I could keep each and every one of them for another year...a great bunch of kids I have this year! |

Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
Today I went over to the Golf Cart dealer to tell him how I wanted it decorated (decal-ed) and batted my eyelashes and whimpered until he promised to have it by tonight. And low and behold, whoooo hooooo, it was delivered and vetman and I went on a wonderful ride to LSL and listened to some Latin Music. And driving, on the way home, I had to stop and watch the sunset with vetman my love, and thank God for all of my blessings. ;D

Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
Oh Chels...sounds like such a romantic evening...
Isn't being a golf cart owner next to heaven? We'll have to take an evening drive together sometime. |

Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
Does last night count? We saw Mandy Patinkin in concert. :clap2: Oh man! What a voice! I'm in love! Don't tell Mr. Judy!
On the other hand... If I let him have Paula Deen, does that mean I can have Mandy? 1rnfl He ended the concert with "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." The crowd went wild! 040 040 040 :clap2: 040 040 This one good thing will keep me going for the rest of the month! :2cool: |
Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?

Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
We have been bolstering the economy here in Pa. The restaurants have particularly benefited. My waistline bears testament to the culinary delights I have indulged in since we got here. Friends and family have blessed us daily with their presence.

Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
Took a ride to stay at our daughters and spent incredible family time with our most precious granddaughter, amazing daughter, and fine son in law. We relaxed by the pool, ate great chinese food, watched E.T. and played BUZZ. I am truly blessed!

Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
It was a day full of inspiring awe and love! This glorious morning, I thanked God for all of the blessings bestowed upon my life, as I often do. Then suddenly in the quietness of waking, our precious childs child cock-a-doodle-dood , literally. COCK-A-DOODLE-DO we called back in unison. It was one of her first words exchanged with us when she was very small and every time we are together it's our special good-morning greeting! The laughter, kisses, and love continues for hours and hours filled with singing, dancing, drawing, reading books, and twinkling smiling eyes of adoring wonderment. The best was when she took her ET doll, hugged and kissy kissed him, and lovingly placed him in her trikes front basket, wrapped tenderly in her blanky. Then in her continious conversation with ET she said "don't worwy baby I wiwl get you home"! So for myself, today, I wrote of a cherished memory, hopefully not to ever be forgotten!! ( remember this? yeah right.... copy/save) lol

Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
awww Ronda, that's so cute. Great memory!
Today, I zoomed all over TV with my new golf cart. Even made it to Spanish Springs. I have to practice to I can keep up with Nonie and Bare when they get back! Also, vetman and I had breakfast, with two new lifelong friends, Ron & Pete! Love you guys! |
Re: What One Good Thing Did You Do For Yourself Today?
Chels, dont worry about keeping up with me, I usually get pulled over for going too slow!
now Bare may be another story. Seems like you are really enjoying that new golf cart, I have this funny visual of you zooming all over TV, just make sure you stay away from my "dead end". LOL ::) |
