I did a very good thing for myself today!
I cleaned my house so I could live in it again after being away for 2 months and leaving it for my hubs to tend to. This is what I did: Sanitized the laundry room where the kitty box is kept. Sanitized the washing machine so my dirty clothes would get clean when washed. Reorganized 2 pantries, 2 freezers, and cupboards that looked foreign. Found the stove top and water kettle on top after scouring it. Mopped and mopped and mopped and mopped (did I say mopped?) the kitchen and bathroom floors. Scoured the glass shower doors to rid them of scum and de-molded and de-fungused not only the doors but the shower, too. Set our bedroom up again after a fresh repaint job. Had to put bedskirt on bed, flip the feather bed since it was upside down, put on a top sheet that was neglected to be put on, plug in all the lamps and clocks, move furniture back into the original positions, and rearrange knicknacks to their proper locations. Then, I had to clean up cat puke and doo doo that had been sitting around. On top of this, I unpacked all my suitcases and did laundry. Now, I repack again for a wedding we're going to this weekend. Was I happy today? Take a guess! MEN! |

Sam
I slammed a few things around today while uttering words that would get censored here. Was so happy to be home alone so no one could hear me. |

If we headed up to Pa right now, I can only imagine the work to be done. When we are there, we work inside and outside constantly. We built many formal flower beds. They are planted with perennials, but I like to fill in with annuals. We should be there now keeping it all looking fabulous since it's for sale. I'm just having to good a time here to leave.

Bright, are you secretly married to vetman? I know that's how our house would be.

Bright, after you attend that wedding this weekend, could you pop up to Canada? Your house cleaning skills sound superb.
I once knew someone who cleaned all her bathroom grout in the floors and tub with a toothbrush. But I think now they've locked her away. ;D

PEEPS, OH PEEPS.... Do this good thing for yourself today...
Hiring a reliable, honest house-cleaning service is a MUST in our retiring years, especially then. It's a matter of priorities in considering this service. Even if it's just done each month or so, it's soooo worth it and really won't break the bank if done extended periods of time. When my cleaners have done our place, we walk into the house and, oh my, the place smells so clean and looks so much brighter. Don't do windows? Oh yes the one I have does at an unheard of low price per window. I have no relativity other than a paying customer. You can find their ad on this site; go for it, you've earned it. They are bonded, licensed, etc. barb

I have a cleaning lady who comes every 2 weeks and she comes today. My problem was that I needed to clean my house before she came or I would have been sooooo embarrassed! This was a small price to pay on my part since I left the house in my hubs care so I could play in TV all summer. ;D |

Yours was the first post I read this morning. And now I am completely worn out just from reading it and must go back to bed. I remember reading all about how you cleaned your place in TV, top to bottom, in some sort of record time it seemed. What is your secret? Do you and Mr. Clean have a thaaannng goin' on? Boomer

Ronda, I was in TV for six months while Fireboy was commuting to work in Toronto and "holding down the fort" at home. When I returned from TV, the house actually looked like a fort, or at least like dozens of soldiers had lived there. I had to hire a cleaner for nine hours to get the house to a state where I could handle the cleaning. And I'm not a clean freak. Fireboy was astounded that I felt his cleaning efforts weren't good enough. :dontknow:

Barefoot,
Years ago I got down on my hands and knees and cleaned the grout with a tooth brush. They did sparkle after that. Now I have an electric grout cleaner for the bathroom floors - well really only one. Don't know why but it attracts dirt. Bright, Pleeeeeeeeease come to my house. You will not have to do windows or clean out freezers. I must admit I think Barefoot did it the right way. HB |

Not that many men would go for that time apart; I don't think. I too am fortunate that my hubs would do the same......To be a great, understanding guy as long as I'm having fun. HOWEVER, yes I would probably pay a boodle for the house to be put back into shape. Bill is a great guy and does not allow me in the kitchen and does all the food shopping.....because he loves to cook and he's a good cook, at that. Now, that's a keeper, huh? He also loves to garden. I never enjoyed gardening mainly because I'm scared stiff of bugs, especially spiders. Bill went to agricultural college and thus the love of gardening. Yup, plucked him right off the farm. Not really but gardening became his hobby and system analyst became his profession that started way back in the DOS days. If you know DOS, then you're old as dirt, like we are. Old as dirt we may be, yet feeling like spring chickens. barb

I was away for year once and when I returned I paid my cleaning lady triple to come in and clean things up...it was worth every penny.
My hubs also does all the grocery shopping and 99% of the cooking. Although I love to cook and think I'm pretty good at it, I have to admit he's much better. In my opinion, he should have been a chef. However, I do all the clean up when's he's done. There is no way I could let him clean up after his cooking because it would never meet my standards. |
