Think not, can’t wait until some stranger just walks in my house with me there, sorry I will do the same exact thing. Here where I live 2 different 70+ men shot a intruder, one killed one in hospital. Neither one went to court, don’t know what or if the police arrested either one but, no jail time or any kind of a fine. The way the paper read police just turned their heads. The Dallas Sun Newspaper!

I know we are splitting hairs, and not at all truly about the posted topic, but every state has a different definition and set of elements for different crimes and degrees. For the 2% that would be interested in this topic, for what it is worth, this is California's. If you don't care, just scroll on down:

211PC - Robbery: (PC or CPC is the abbreviation for Penal Code, one of several dozen types of codes in CA, including Vehicle Codes, Commercial Codes, etc.) the taking of something from or about a person by use of force or fear. In this case, pushing a clerk as they run out the store on a beer run is a Robbery. It is called an Estes robbery due to case law. A building itself cannot be "robbed." A victim must be a person. "About a person" means if you snatched a purse from the cart a lady was pushing and shoved her or threatened he while doing it, or grabbed a briefcase on the ground next to a guy at the bus stop while brushing past him, that is "From about a person using force or fear."

459PC - Burglary: Entering a four-sided structure with the intent to commit petty theft or ANY felony. Case law has shown that entering a structure is very broad - with extensions of the body included. For example, if you drill through a rooftop with the intent to drop a line and snag a wad of bills, the drill bit entering the plane of the rooftop is an extension of your hand and therefore you "entered" the structure with intent. If you put an ATM card into a machine that is flush on the wall of a bank, with the intent to defraud the machine or bank, you have broken the plane with an extension of your body, thereby entering the structure with intent. Back in the day, entering a phone booth to break open the coin box was not only theft (petty or grand dependent on the amount stolen or the specificity of the item(s) stolen) but also burglary for entering the four-sided structure with intent (like bringing the hammer to open the coin box).

Anyhow, I could talk about this all day. I'm a blast at cocktail parties. Digressing...

Sounds like Leesburg might fit into your category as well...

Anyone know Tom Brady? Remember when he first moved down to Tampa and he accidentally entered his neighbor's home instead of his own (when he was returning home)?

And how many incidents have you heard about like that?

I recall two or three gun crimes in my ten years here. One was a guy that committed suicide after learning that he had a terminal illness. The other was a guy that shot his neighbor's door. There might be one or two that I can't recall.

Not at any time have I noticed idiotic villagers having senior moments at the gun range. Go once a week, not once person left me with a concern.

Maybe you could point out the when, where, and how they scared you while you personally witnessed the event.

TV is a retirement community that has one of the largest community of veterans and a fare amount of Leo retirees. I have zero problems living in TV with those who are gun owners

Interesting thoughts here. I saw photos of the house. Everything overgrown and tree was lying on the roof. Appeared nobody lived in it and if it was in TV, fines woold have exceeded it's value. Just proves that all cases have their own circumstances.

There are so many positive, uplifting things going on in our community that you could focus on. Come on Meta you can do better please. Thank you

Agree 100%. And some people wonder how perceptions are created from people who do not have all of the facts. I commented on a Villges News article saying what you said and I was accused of being an "uppity" Villager.

Interesting thought. In Florida and other similar states if the person shot him he probably would not be charged criminally charged and nieighbor ould not be exposed to a civil lawsuit. Law is very complicated with a lot of "what if" questions.

Have never received a solicitation from an alarm company since moving here. Going without an alarm system in S. Florida is un heard of.
