John Daily said it best "Grip it and rip it". Pick up after double par and keep moving.

I second the recommendation of George. I've been golfing for 60 years, and during that time I've developed some pretty bad habits. George noticed the flaw(s) immediately, and now I'm hitting the ball straighter and further than ever. And the best part was that I paid nothing, because they offer a free half hour lesson.

Please send me a PM if you're interested.
Our group doesn't take the game too seriously; some of us don't keep score, it's all about having fun and a relaxed game.
I'm sure someone could find golf clubs you could use.

(Before serious golfers yell at me, we play Good Golf, move the game along, and follow the rules.)

Many (Not all) experienced golfers enjoy playing with anyone and most don't keep score on executive courses. In golf you always play your own game and play against your own best. Keeping the pace of play is all that matters to most people who are "serious" golfers.

I remember I wanted to play with your group....Bare. Sigh. I am not golfing anymore.

If you are like me. I was apprehensive after coming to The Villages and back to golf after many years. Go to a driving range and watch. You will find many others in the same boat. This will give you confidence to smack some balls around yourself. When I play with one group we don't even keep score. We just enjoy being there and each other's company.

Here is the best advice you will ever get regarding learning to play. Caveat...this takes patience.

Start your lessons two feet from the cup and as you master that distance, double it...master...double..master....double..etc

WHAT??? Oh, I'm so sorry. I remember you talking about your group and how much fun you had, and how Helene liked riding along.:(

Please start on the courses that are rated as one, then as you improve move up the chart. You can get a chart at the golf schools. Good luck.

We took lessons from Sandra Chester at Golf Your Best (352) 751-5122. Both of us learned a lot and loved her teaching style. She gets my vote!

FYI, they lost their lease on 301 and have moved. They are now at the country club located on 44 between Buena Vista and Morse.

I would agree ... I have taken lessons at The Villages Golf Academy, also on Rolling Acres, but Sandra Chester (Golf Your Best) was the best teacher. She really customized the lessons to me and showed me how to take advantage of my strengths.

Really enjoyed it and learned a lot.

Is Sandra affiliated with the Villages or is she off the the Villages? I have a Villages gift certificate I want to use.

Thanks

Bob

She is located at Continental Country Club on Route 44. That's outside the Villages. To use a gift card for a golf lesson, check with Palmer CC and the Sarasota practice facility.
