That’s one course we never hear nothing about, except the rumor going around that The Villages is trying to acquire it.

Hey, don’t shoot the messenger; just keep hearing that from different people.

I did play it once last year, just like any other 18 hole muni course that needs some TLC.

Continental is spending lots of money on their course beginning soon. The back 9 will get new cart paths this year and the front 9 will get them next year. Also, they are bringing in a new maintenance company to care for the course. It should be in much better shape by fall. It is not bad now and the pricing is terrific. $25 on Mondays and $36 for prime time. After Easter, they always run a terrific golf special includes a big jumbo hot dog and beverage.

I can’t come up with any reason that The Villages would buy Continental golf course. As I understand, the residents own the course...

The are adamant about keeping their little enclave. Their claim to fame is that Mickey Mantle used to own a place there back in the 1950's or 60's.
I enjoy going over there to play once in a while. It's a little challenging with all the trees. Fair shape and the people are very nice.

A group of us have played there on Monday mornings for the past month or so. On Monday mornings they have a shot gun start at 8:30 am and the price is right - $25 for 18 holes including cart. Although the fairways aren't quite as good as our Championship courses, the course in general is challenging enough to make it a very enjoyable outing and it is a very short drive to get there. They are removing some of the trees along a couple of fairways, but there are still enough to get you into trouble. So if you want to play an "off campus" 18 hole course at half the price of our courses, it is not a bad alternative. And for what is worth, we are playing there again tomorrow morning.
