The people north of 44 used to mock people that bought in the new section because there was no golf available in the new section - but we had great walking trails!
However, it doesn’t just hurt the people down south. The lack of golf in the south is also impacting the people up north since people from the south are going north to play golf and are taking up a lot of those tee times. It does look like the developer has recognized the problem and is doing something about it. A couple of years from now, when Eastport is finished, there should be (I think the number is) four new executives, and three new championship courses and a pitch and putt. It will be more than 100 holes but more than half will be championship. I don’t think that will solve the problem but it is a step in the right direction. |
With a 9-hour time window, I would suspect there is no amount of points that would prevent you from getting a tee time. The problem with denials is when you want a morning tee time, say between 8:30 and noon.

Some people forget, daddy and granddaddy made $1,000,000,000.......that's a BILLION dollars long before daddy died. Daddy & Granddaddy are celebrating in their graves (which for the record, it's impossible for them to roll) |

If you are suggesting that the grouping of players in the foursomes (for a tee time request with multiple foursomes) matter, I don't believe that is correct. I believe what matters is the average number of points for all players in the request, regardless of how they are arranged in the foursomes. Perhaps I misinterpreted what you said?? After points, the time window matters a great deal. If you are content with afternoon tee times, then the probability of a denial goes down when compared to requesting a morning time window.

I doubt that would ever be considered and I doubt there is enough room.

The first hole is 59 yards and the second hole is 65 yards. When you add the walk from the first hole to the second hole, that is at least another 30 yards. Third and fourth are 97 and 74. Fifth and sixth are 57 plus 58. Seventh and eighth are 105 and 104. Ninth and tenth are 110 and 65. Eleventh and twelfth are 59 and 91. Thirteenth and fourteenth are 90 and 55. Fifteenth and sixteenth are 78 and 60. Seventeenth are eighteenth are 82 and 72. |

You need space between the holes with the much longer distances of an Executive course. You can't have the tee boxes on top of the greens like you do at many of the holes at Richmond - too dangerous. Also, Richmond has very small tee boxes. An executive would need much more space for tee boxes so the tees can be moved around to distribute the wear. Also, the Richmond greens are tiny. You would need larger greens and larger sand traps for an executive course. While the number of holes decreases the amount of space per hole would go way up. No way there is enough room.

It's after effect of Covid. During the height of Covid everything was shut down except golf. It was the only game in town. People who never even thought of playing golf started to play because there was nothing else to do. As a result, we have way more players today than 3 or 4 years ago. No fun, but we gotta live with it.

We keep hearing about all of the new courses being built in Eastport. I think it is three championship and four executives.
At this point they are in the planning stage. Right now, they are just a drawing on a map. Does anyone have any idea when the courses will be completed? I asked a starter and he said one of the championship courses should open this summer but he had no idea when the executives will open. He didn’t think the first executive would open until next year and the final one would be a few years after that. |

From what I’ve seen published, first new championship, (Shallow Creek), will open April or May and the first executive and P&P, (Live Oak/Laurel Oak) will open October timeframe. |

Where did you see that published? Any idea on when the remaining courses will open? Everyone says all of these courses are planned but they aren’t going to alleviate the problem until they are built. I think we are looking at least a five year timeframe. |
