One group is a singles group about 16 people, and the third group is a foursome. All 3 groups received “not able to accommodate request” responses. And, yes they put in for several courses and 7 days ahead. Who else is seeing this?

You have to be very flexible with time and course requests. Points seem to count a lot at this time of year as well...

If you are suggesting that the grouping of players in the foursomes (for a tee time request with multiple foursomes) matter, I don't believe that is correct. I believe what matters is the average number of points for all players in the request, regardless of how they are arranged in the foursomes. Perhaps I misinterpreted what you said?? After points, the time window matters a great deal. If you are content with afternoon tee times, then the probability of a denial goes down when compared to requesting a morning time window.

I tell all in my group that if you are sitting at 1 or 2 points when I put in the request you are safe if you have 3 points you are on the fence, if you have 4 points a big maybe, after that pretty much forget it. I use excel and make sure each team (4) has no more than 8 points total preferably only 7. I use a 2 and a half hour time frame and use 14 courses. In all the time I have been doing this my group has only been shut out 3 times. One of those was because I forgot to recheck point before I but the request in and a few had golfed the day before which will not show till the next day. Yes I hear there are those that cheat and I have heard they do get caught, GOOD! Note if I have a group of 3 I keep them a 6 points max or below. Should average out to 2 point per person per group. Average for all playing at about 1.75 points

I run a ladies group on T/F with about 20 people. I put in a 9-hr time range with the 5 courses south of 44. So far this season, we haven't been shut out. Can't wait for the 4 new execs coming south of 44!! My husband is in a men's group on Tuesdays with about 80 guys. It's a "registered" group (over 30 people) and they always get tee times. Might be in a couple of different courses, but they never get shut out. And yes, points do matter, especially cancellation/no-show points.

What is a “registered group”?

biker1 01-09-2024 10:53 AM

I doubt that would ever be considered and I doubt there is enough room.

Brilliant idea on coversion - Richmond is an out-and-back 18, make it an EXEC! They also have ANOTHER Pich-n-Putt being built south of Turnpike near East Port. Very UNNECESSARY expense with Mickee Lee P-n-P 5 minutes away.

Try playing championship courses. No, they're not free, but part of the reason exec is so full is because it's free. My group plays only championship and have noticed a significant decrease in being busy/full this year on championships.

Maybe due to the fact that fewer are willing to pay $70 to play on these tracks.

Think about that, And when you were buying your home they sold you on “FREE GOLF”. What a bag of horse **** that is. Remember, This is not the “Same people” who started the Villages. This is the greedy kids.. Their Father, and Grandfather are rolling in their graves.

I agree, "What a bag of horse **** that post is"

Another solution - limit P&P's to only allow top flight x out golf balls. The courses will play like 7000 yards.

I agree with the first part - I doubt that it would ever be considered. But I disagree with the second part. There is enough room.

The first hole is 59 yards and the second hole is 65 yards. When you add the walk from the first hole to the second hole, that is at least another 30 yards.

Third and fourth are 97 and 74.

Fifth and sixth are 57 plus 58.

Seventh and eighth are 105 and 104.

Ninth and tenth are 110 and 65.

Eleventh and twelfth are 59 and 91.

Thirteenth and fourteenth are 90 and 55.

Fifteenth and sixteenth are 78 and 60.

Seventeenth are eighteenth are 82 and 72.

Keep in mind people playing the P&P also means fewer players on the Exec courses, probably including some you prefer not in a group ahead of you ;)

Absolutely false. I live near Marshview and Richmond and drive by them virtually everyday. They are closer to full than empty almost everyday unless the weather is bad.

Sounds like the Tuesday "Men's Day Tournaments". Priority with handicaps; do they limit participation at all with these?

You need space between the holes with the much longer distances of an Executive course. You can't have the tee boxes on top of the greens like you do at many of the holes at Richmond - too dangerous. Also, Richmond has very small tee boxes. An executive would need much more space for tee boxes so the tees can be moved around to distribute the wear. Also, the Richmond greens are tiny. You would need larger greens and larger sand traps for an executive course. While the number of holes decreases the amount of space per hole would go way up. No way there is enough room.

Agreed. I find that Richmond is actually a fairly tight course even for a pitch and putt. It would make for a terrible Executive course if they ever attempted to turn it into one, it would be too short and too tight for most people to enjoy playing on it. Definitely dangerous as well.

It's after effect of Covid. During the height of Covid everything was shut down except golf. It was the only game in town. People who never even thought of playing golf started to play because there was nothing else to do. As a result, we have way more players today than 3 or 4 years ago. No fun, but we gotta live with it.
