Should have called the shack and reported situation if you were continuing to catch up to him. Two balls ok IF no other golfers

banjobob 08-11-2021 05:56 AM

Sometimes when jam ups happen a call to the starter shack the ambassador will come right there , mostly they ask the slow group to skip a hole and play on ,works .

Golfer222 08-11-2021 05:58 AM

The difference is that a solo player has to go to each ball and hit one at a time whereas a 2,3,or 4 group each goes to their ball separately and hit pretty close to one another. In your scenario, where you seem to think it is fine even if he hits 4 balls, and sprays them all over the course, you have to wait for him to go to each ball. This argument is silly. No form of golf etiquette allows a player to hit multiple balls per hole if others are waiting behind him. One player, one ball

lucky

two things
1. your lucky he wasnt playing with three others, that would have really slowed your twosome down.
2. your lucky he didnt tell you to #$% off and wait your turn.

From what I've read on almost every golfing thread... the "Ambassadors" are pretty much like their title describe: politicians who do nothing. ;)

The error here is the system allowing a single to go out. Singles have not status on a golf course. Assuming there were 2 to 4 in front of him, you had nowhere to go anyway. I’m assuming this is on an executive course which technically is just a recreational area, designed largely for people who play AT golf, not proficient golfers.

What’s the hurry?

this certainly is the pervasive attitude of the entitled today- do what you want and $%#& others

bowlingal 08-11-2021 06:33 AM

that's what the ambassador is for. to keep up the even flow of players. you dropped the ball on this.

jbrown132 08-11-2021 06:48 AM

Where was the ambassador? If none were out there, call the starter shack. That’s there job to deal with things like that not yours.

They are called clubs for a reason

cafw1 08-11-2021 06:59 AM

Call the phone number on your score card and ask to have an Ambassador come out and tell him not to do it. Hopefully that will end that problem.

Golfer222 08-11-2021 07:07 AM

it was after hours- shack was closed. This is the time people tend to think of the courses as their own personal practice range for some reason

Jean G 08-11-2021 07:10 AM

If he can’t proceed forward, why did it matter where you waited? If he only hit one you would end up waiting together. That can be awkward.
