Default Golf "Off The Reservation"......

Have some golf buddies coming down from the north in a couple of weeks and play to grab some cheap golf via GolfNow for play around the area. I have played Baseline, Black Bear and Mission Inn. What are some other suggestions for area courses that are fun and likely in good shape? Any to stay away from? It seems like between Stonecrest and Spruce Creek, there is one that people say is pretty good and one to stay away from, but I can never remember which! (It's an age thing!)

Thanks!

Here's a recent thread along the same lines and might give you some ideas.

Have fun.

World Woods outside of Brooksville and Juliette Falls in Dunnellon. Both a little over an hour drive but well worth the trip.

Stone Creek in Ocala is always in good shape. Also, Chandler at Top of the World. Played Ocala National this week, greens in great shape, fairways a little sparse.

Playing Juliet Falls (my favorite) this week but not sure of conditions.

A real nice one to play is Red Tail in Sorrento, near Mt. Dora. Beautiful but tough course.

Our group plays Eagle Ridge @ Spruce Creek every week, and the conditions are excellent. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the food is good and reasonable. Played RedTail last week, and condition was also good. Stonecrest was absolutely horrible as of a couple of months ago. This is the e-mail I just received from Eagle Ridge:

We have these upcoming specials for you.
October 12th and 13th play in our 12:45 shotgun for only $15.00 plus tax.
Now thru October 23rd play Saturday or Sunday morning before 11:00 for only $25.00 plus tax.
Play 18 holes any day of the week after 12:45 for only $20.00 plus tax.

Actually it is CANDLER HILLS @ Top of the World in Ocala. Only corrected the spelling in case someone tried to get it on golfing devise or directions on a GPS. It is a nice layout and gives another perspective of developments in the area NOT The Villages.

We played Juliette Falls this past Tuesday; the course is in great shape; the greens were beautiful and were super slick, the fastest greens I've putted on in a long time. Played 18 in 3 1/2 hrs.; didn't see anyone until the last 3 holes. We'll definitely go back again.

We did not get there this last visit, but it's on the list for April, for sure!
