There is a huge labor supply/demand imbalance - in favor of the worker. Inflation is also at 6/8/10% - pick a number.
The raise is probably part labor imbalance and part inflation adjustment.

My company has to give employees a 6% bonus on top of their raises, just to keep pace with inflation.
