Default He is baccckkķ! Go Jordan Spieth

He is on a roll, especially the putting. Good clean cut kid. Sure hope this is for the win. Last time he had playoff with Daniel Berger that was the case. Keeping my fingers crossed.

According to some on here, despite 3 Majors, and numerous tournament wins, Spieth is a poor golfer who can't hit irons, or woods.
He's a one trick pony who can only putt.
God knows how he managed to even qualify for the Tour.
Good to see him getting back to form, just hope he loses it again before the next Ryder Cup!!

Sometimes I find myself feeling bad for some of the pros and that includes Jordan who has been a favorite of ours thru the years. Then on Monday morning when I read the sports section and look at the prize winnings even for 5th place I don't feel as bad.

I was given very attractive odds so I have a few bucks wagered against JS having a top 5 finish today.

I think that the fact that he's had the lead two tournaments in a row but hasn't been able to close the deal says that it's more of a mental or confidence issue. The fact that he's able to get into position tells me that he's fixed his swing issues. He's able to perform well for three rounds, but it breaks down under the most extreme pressure of holding the lead on Sunday.

I didn't watch all of the coverage Sunday but it didn't seem that he hit his irons as well as he did the first three days. He ended up 35-40 after hitting wedges for 100 yards.

It's difficult for me to believe that tour pros can't stick it consistently from 100 yards but that seems to be the game these days. Distance is the primary factor. Hitting par fives in two and driving close to the short par fours is what the game has become. They don't care about being in the rough because they're hitting one of their wedges to almost every hole. And they all have at least three wedges and many have four. Their pitching wedge, gap wedge and lob wedge all have big heavy soles so that they easily cut through the rough and spin the ball.

Jordan doesn't hit it quite as far as some of the others. His average distance off the tee is "only" about 300 yards and his accuracy is only about 48% which places him at about 229th on the tour. Even though the penalty for being in the rough is diminished these days, short and crooked has never been a recipe for success.
