I've heard that if an ambassador gets two complaints against them they are fired - automatically. Doesn't matter if the ambassador is enforcing the rules as prescribed or if the complaintant is over aggressive.
Personally, I would prefer to see them able to make groups skip a hole if the fall (say) a hole and a half behind. |

Is there a published guide or rule book for the ambassadors of what they can and cannot do (what their exact authority is) and if so, can you get your hands on one? Maybe this would be a good question for the "powers-that-be" at the main office. If one of the main goals is to encourage sales, this issue of slow play sure won't bode well with prospects who are golfers.

I believe that all employees of the golf management group have to undergo extensive training in customer service. One of the tenets is to facilitate enjoyment of the game. Unfortunately, that creates a conflict. Does the ambassador look at the big picture and push the slower group to play faster, perhaps angering them but improving the situation for all the groups behind? Or does the ambassador help the slower group as much as possible, making them feel good, but keeping all the other groups behind them frustrated? It is a no-win situation since either group could have reason, in their minds, to report the ambassador.
I think anger is misplaced if directed at the ambassador. It really is the responsibility of the golfers to maintain a reasonable pace. That said, there have been many posts pro and con pace of play, from the rabbits who want to be done in 2+hours to those that ask what's the rush. The Good Golf School should be a requirement to play on the championship courses and highly recommended for play on the executive courses. At the very least, it may educate people on how to repair a ball mark and how to smooth (not rake!) a sand trap. |

Also, are there any courses in TV where there is no time limit that those slower players could chose to play at (if they have the common sense to do so) without annoying others by their slow play? Just courious, nothing morehttp://www.laie-smileys.com/golf.gif |
I think their is one per nine holes. They should have no problem detecting an issue on the course's pace. Almost every ambassador I meet is very friendly and like to chat while getting water or sand. Ask them some of these questions, i.e., getting fired, how they handle pace of play, etc....
I will check with the ones at Havana this afternoon..... |

And Sky...The foursomes were being sent out every nine minutes on Wednesday at Sandhill. That is a pretty easy course. I think that means that you should be playing each hole in about nine-ten minutes on that course and in those conditions. |
Used to golf years ago...spouse is an avid golfer. People need to realize there is a certain etiquette involved with golf and "retirement" aside...they probably need to be reminded that this game doesn't involve their entitlements. Earlier in this thread someone said to take it to the pro...if enough people do this then something should be done!!!
