the firewall or engine perhaps collapsed into the driver foot well crushing the right leg, with the seat belt his hips shouldn't have moved forward.

"Perhaps", but let's wait for the ACTUAL information.

Still the car at any price didn't do a great job :ohdear:

"great job'? hmmm....

There are no crash tests yet done yet in the US.

MOST new vehicles selling in the USA do not have NHTSA testing for quite some time after intial deliveries.

The winner of the tournament gets one, will he want it?

Oh please - why do you assume that?

Seriously this being a new model may very well be a mechanical failure, not driver error, time will tell.

Yet ANOTHER assumption on your part, as you did in a prior post of yours re the Windshield.

I just hope his long rehab goes well but wonder if his back issues will be negatively impacted or not from the crash.

Finally a valid thought.

The tournament was sponsored by Genesis....and I had to look it up. It is Hyundai and Genesis is their latest model, touting all kinds of safety features. He was driving the 2021 model with the logo on the side when this happens. Talk about an advertising nightmare.
Considering that the police said that he is lucky to be alive, it could be a great advertisement for their safety features.

I can see it now. "The car that saved Tiger's life. If he had been driving anything else, he'd be dead."

"At least be consistent and have the same visceral hatred for all persons in public life with a well established history of adultery."

Excellent point. To do any less, exposes a different agenda.

Maybe the brakes gave out. There were no skid marks. I want him to be OK for his beautiful kids.

Definitely disheartening to hear people who judge any person that suffered serious injuries without all the facts . How in compassionate can one be . Even if their an ashiest , “if you can’t say anything good about a person, don’t say anything “. Reminds us their are people with character flaws that live among us , who must knock other people to make themselves feel good . At least we know their identity and can avoid them . We have some power over them if we pray for them .

Truly hope that it was 'one of those things' and not aggresive driving (or worse). It WAS so touching seeing him with his talented son, and was hoping for his return to the tourney et al. But alas, can only hope he recovers well with no serious impact to him.

You’ll hold judgment? How about just having some empathy...period.

Well, it's now almost a day since Tiger's accident. LEO reports and info (apparently) indicate that he was not impaired and that these roads are extremely difficult to navigate and many crashes have occured there. There are also reports that Tiger was driving very fast thru the parking lot leading to these roads. And that he was late for his TV-shoot appointment. Two VERY fortunate matters - he WAS not impaired and that no one else was injured or worse.

Personally after driving many years, I have done a LOT of stupid things behind the wheel. I'd assume that goes for most of us here in TV. We're human.

As for empathy for "poor Tiger" - Absolutely 100% NOW. Now that most facts are out. Looks as if the surgeries on his leg are extreme and will take very long to recover with tough rehab. Who knows if he will ever be able to walk well let alone golf at a pro level again. A huge loss for Tiger personally, as well as golf fans. My mind goes to his family, and especially his son Charlie. I can't tell you how happy I was watching them play golf together. Very sad, and now Tiger's life makes a terrible stressful turn yet again.

BTW, lucky he was in a brand new midsize SUV with all the latest safety features. I find it confusing that his primary massive injury is to his RIGHT leg. Trying to imagine how and why this impact was localized. Certain that crash analysis will have volumes of info, and determine how. Glad he was in a solid vehicle...

Thank you..

I had the distinct impression, from listening to his peers on The Golf Channel that he may indeed be fortunate to get out of this walking well.

On the issue of "holding judgement"; Tiger Woods has done some stellar golf in his career and has made some decisions that made people extremely disappointed in his behavior, including substance abuse and messing about with women while married.

I feel the same as Dean Florida with good reason. Anyone would feel compassion for his injuries. Tiger Woods is a brilliant man but he has his demons.

As usual people jump to conclusions because that seems like the spontaneous thing to do, now you can all insert your foot...

Driving on a strange road with an unfamiliar car makes things even more of a challenge. Wishing him all the best for a complete recovery.

I have driven that road several times when going to visit a friend who lived in Palos Verdes Estates. It is hilly and winding. My guess is he was speeding big time. The sheriff was pretty funny in the understated wording he used in a TV interview to express that notion.

Tiger Woods almost crashed into a car driven by the director of "Grown-ish" minutes before his near-fatal crash that left him hospitalized with multiple leg injuries on Tuesday.

According to "Grownish" crew member Oliver Konteh, the TV show's director arrived to set shortly before 7 a.m. on Tuesday claiming that Woods, 45, came close to striking his vehicle.

"He was like, 'Yeah, you know what? I almost got in an accident with f--king Tiger Woods. He almost hit me,'" Konteh quoted his director, who has not been identified, to TMZ.

The "Grown-ish" crew members have been staying at the Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes -- the same resort as Woods. It was there Konteh claimed his director saw Woods and described the athlete appearing "agitated and impatient" as his vehicle was blocked by another before he "took off fast."

Konteh recalled crew members "laughing it off" when the director first discussed the near accident with Woods. "I didn't even believe him, to be honest with you," Konteh continued. "That's what we heard. It was early in the morning. Everyone's kind of tired. Plus, it's also Tiger Woods, that's a well known name."

Dr. Anish Mahajan, chief medical officer and interim CEO of Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, said Woods is recovering from a long surgical procedure to repair "significant orthopedic injuries to his right lower extremity."

"Comminuted open fractures affecting both the upper and lower portions of the tibia and fibula bones were stabilized by inserting a rod into the tibia," said Mahajan. "Additional injuries to the bones of the foot and ankle were stabilized with a combination of screws and pins."

"Trauma to the muscle and soft-tissue of the leg required surgical release of the covering of the muscles to relieve pressure due to swelling," he continued.

I hear you. I did give him the benefit of the doubt. 7.30 AM is about the time I started heading for home from a night out many years ago.

He already had strike one and strike two against him. I'm not qualified to give him strike three and neither is anybody else. It's still early in the investigation. Let's see what else is revealed.

Am I interpreting this theory correct ? Tiger may have lost his cool in the face of adversity. 1 2 3 4 . . . . . 10 If true that moves the theory from substance abuse to anger management. Lucky no one else got hurt.

I sure hope he does not suffer from "compartment syndrome" after this type of trauma. It is horribly painful and depilating for years. The last sentence of the statement by attending is very concerning for someone of his profession.
