I vote for raising golf and pool fees for visitors and renters to a level that supports pool monitors to a full time level to police our amenities......I agree. ALSO stop handicap stickers on golf carts until such time that they can be monitored .........Supposedly they can't run their carts to within 15 ft. of the greens , no one adheres to these regs. I actually saw a guy (who could walk better than I can) drive over a green to get around a golf bag laying the edge .....I have golfed with many handicapped golfers. Never have I seen any infractions.I LIVE I LIVE ON AMBERWOOD AND SEE THEM EVERYDAY...... Again I vote to set aside one or two courses for handicapped golfers..........I am not yelling but I strongly disagree for many and varied reasons. I was handicapped myself for a while. I could still play but not walk any distance. However, I was able to continue playing in my usual foursomes with my friends. I know this isn't a popular view but the only other alternative it is to give the Ambassadors (hallway monitors) some authority so they can escort violators off the course..........I agree wholeheartedly regarding giving ambassadors more authority on the executive courses. This should not be limited to handicapped violations. VERY TRUE, I SHOULD HAVE SAID ALL GOLF COURSES..., Ok , Start yelling , If you don't agree something must be done, then lets hear your ideas........... Fumar the exasperated ............ A

Russ. I was never any good at math. Would that nurse be 26??? Fumar. Just waiting to see what is going to be said next. I really don't want to agree with you about the handicapped part, but I don't want people just using the villages for a free vacation. |

Those who said visitors come here for cheap vacation and have no vested interest in maintaining TV make a good point.
I would agree with raising the fees for visitors to use the golf courses and pools enough to pay for full-time monitoring. (I don't think it would work for renters because homeowners relinquish their resident cards and renters get an activity pass that temporarily transfers the homeowners' rights to the amenities.) I agree with golf course ambassadors having the authority to enforce the rules. I strongly do NOT agree with limiting the rights of handicap residents. Respectfully, I would ask Fumar to consider how he would feel about such restrictions being imposed on him, should he temporarily or permanently become handicapped. I suspect that since he pays the same amenity fees as those of us not (yet) so unfortunate, and since he still would be considerate of the rules, that he would believe that he should not be penalized for the misdeeds of others. |

I know we got slightly off subject but I have to chime in on the "Reasonable Accommodation Policy".
In our community there are many aches and pains that can prevent us from being as active as we would like. Some things are quite obvious to the bystander, some are not. Someone may appear to be able to walk easily to get from point A to point B but prolonged walking may be against their doctor's advice. Or more painful than an observer could possibly know. There is a provision for a golfer to drive on the greens, with a special single person golf cart. (You can rent them at the championship courses.) If the person Fumar observed reads this, and truly needs to drive on the green, I hope they will take advantage of using these specialized carts. I also hope that all of us can be compassionate enough to realize the people using the "Reasonable Accommodation" probably have an injury or illness that is with them 24 hours a day and this policy allows them to enjoy a round of golf in a world where their activities have been reduced in many ways.

Reasonable Accommodation Not Just for the Golfer
My husband has the RA card that he uses. The starter at Glenview was the one who suggested that he get it about 4 years ago because it also helps maintain the pace of play. (We were a foursome.) He can walk, just not fast enough or for long. This allows him to drive/park closer to the green. He told us to play as if he had it that day and for me to drive him to his ball on all holes (within 15' of the greens and tee boxes) and informed the ambassador what we were doing. Only the golfer in the cart who has the card is allowed to do so...not both golfers in the cart. (If both golfers have the card, then 2 ribbons/tags are issued at check in, one for each side of the windshield.)
Maybe the single person cart was the one seen on the green and they are specially designed and greens legal.

What is the rationale for double green fees for smokers?
