Default TV Putting Challenge??

Okay. Time for probably a silly question...

I see the flyer for the Inaugural Putting Challenge. It speaks of tee times, pairings, etc., but sounds like it is really some sort of putting championship. I called the number on the flyer and the very nice lady I spoke with seemed almost as confused as I am.

Anybody have any details or clarification?

Bear, don't understand what you want clarified.
It says right at the top of the flyer......
"You can’t be crowned The Villages® First Champion Putter of the Year if you don’t sign up to qualify. Call now at (352) 259-8121 to schedule your qualifier tee time."

Okay, one more try.

Sounds like more than just putting to me. Sounds like full rounds of golf. If it is, okay. But don't really see the meaning of the title. Special scoring with emphasis on putting or something? Or is that just a trying-to-be-cute title for a regular golf tournament?

I'll try.

It's a putting contest therefore it will be held on the putting green.

The golf staff will set up a number of holes say 9 for example. Players tee off at 5 minute intervals in pairs and it's stroke play. Therefore you and the person you are paired with will write down your scores. You may play 9 holes you may play 18 holes the flyer doesn't say.

The lowest 32 scores will moved forward to the finals at match play (2 brackets of 16 players). So if you win your first match you will progress, if you win all 4 matches you have won your bracket and will play the winner of the other bracket (the other 16 qualifiers).

If you win this match you will be the Champion Putter of the Year.

It's all putting and all on the putting green.

That's how I interpret it.

Default I read it as putting only

IMO it is putting only. If it is not purely putting, it is one poorly written flyer. It does leave out how many holes the putting courses will have for qualifying and championship.

Qualifying will be on the practice greens (I assume) at four courses. If my math is correct, 48 could try to qualify at each course, the low eight players will qualify at each course.

That sends 32 to Sarasota practice green for match play. If my math is right again, it would take 5 matches to determine a winner. rounds of 16-8-4-2-and then the finals against the winner of other bracket.
