Default You want to improve at golf?

By all means take lessons(plural). And if you really, truly, honest to God want to improve....then you must practice what you learn until you understand what they are trying to teach you.

Golf is no different than any other endeavor in life. It takes practice(correct practice)and dedication to improve. If you don't do that then please, please, please don't blame bad luck or anything else but yourself for it not working out the way you'd like.

Even the best players in the world practice more hours than you likely worked a week perfecting their art. If you even want to improve even 50 percent head to the putting and chipping areas. It isn't the number of balls you hit, but the quality of the shots that count.

Hitting "UP" on the ball is not the answer...hitting down on the ball, or sweeping it off the ground is.

When you throw a tennis ball underhanded to someone you don't stop the motion with the arm once the ball has left your hand....you continue through...the same with a golf swing.

Don't be afraid of the sand...learn the proper technique...you have to let the sand move the ball out of the bunker...the club face should be almost parallel to the ground in most green side cases...and you must hit the sand first and with force because you're not only moving the ball, but quite a volume of sand....and you must follow through with the same club face orientation as when it strikes the sand. It really is easier than doing taxes.

Sound confusing? Sound difficult? Well it is. You are surrounded by hundreds of golf holes and dozens of golf courses....many great practice areas. If you learn how it's supposed to be done you will have more fun than anything you've ever done(besides sex of course).

So go out and learn...it's why you retired...to do something that excites you, but isn't really work. Sunshine, fresh air and beautiful views.
