I also have used Desmond Harris for many years and have just moved and glad to see he is still in business so I can still call him.

Have you noticed that it is taking longer for your clothes to dry than it used to, or that they used to get dry at one setting, but now they don’t? Probably not.

If you have a metal vent pipe with a clear run, if you clean your link trap faithfully, and if your dryer is working normally, you really don’t need your dryer vent pipe cleaned, especially if you don’t use the hot setting on your dryer (I never do—it’s hard on the clothes). How is it going to catch on fire if the maximum air temperature is nowhere near the temperature needed for combustion? Companies are happy to clean the pipe for you, but you are wasting your money. Dryer lint traps these days tend to be very effective.

As others have mentioned, this is completely false. I managed a chain of laundromats for 32 years. Lint/dust will always get by the lint screens and accumulate in the vent pipes...it will eventually become a problem. I've seen static electricity cause lint to catch fire, and spread quickly as if it were gasoline. Dryer vents must be cleaned regularly.

I have the same type of vent as you but clothes are taking longer to dry needing extra settings. Any ideas?

If anyone has had them would you recommend them??
We just used Complete Dryer Vent Cleaning Svcs. 352-653-0809 listed in one of the other posts. We spoke with Mari on the phone (wife of the owner Gus) to do the scheduling. She was very helpful and informative. She told us exactly what they would do and what was involved and gave prices for all the options. The service tech (Mike) and the owner (Gus) arrived in the scheduled time slot. We were called 10 minutes prior to their arrival to alert us. They were here about an hour. Service included cleaning the dryer itself as well as the hose connecting to the wall and the pipe and getting on the roof to inspect and clean the outlet. They took before and after pictures The process took about an hour. The total was $125 and they did not try to upsell us on any additional services or equipment. I would highly recommend this company. They are slightly more expensive but they are certified and extremely thorough.
