Default Ceiling Fans need help

I have four ceiling fans in my brand new patio villa (proud I am!). None of them have lights. Does anyone have the time and knowledge to:

Add light kits to each fan (and tell me what to buy)
Remove the light fixture in the dining area and add a ceiling fan
Remove the light fixture in the kitchen and add a ceiling fan

I closed on my house in Buttonwood January 31st and ChaChaCha was so very kind to help me unpack and become a new friend.

Right now I actually have two houses. I am sleeping in and renting one in Liberty Park until February 28th. I had no idea I would be able to close on a new house so quickly! It has worked out well; I am able to setup the new place during the day and escape the choas at night!

If you can help me with the fans-great. If not, let's meet for coffee and/or ice cream..really

Hi Lynn,

Congratulations on your new Patio Villa (and being able to escape the chaos at night). I can't help you with the ceiling fan question, but when I come down in April, I'll be glad to meet for coffee.

All best wishes on your new home and life in TV!

Look at the brand of the fans, will be stamped someplace on the main body. Hampton Bay, Hunter, Casablanca are popular ones for example. Then go to Home Depot or Lowes and buy lights you like for that brand. Contact Redwitch on this forum for the name of the handy man she uses. Or also Handie on this forum may do it as well. Also go to virginiatrace.com and pull up the "good services" list and look for electricians. I would be glad to help you, but will not be there until sometime in April.

Attaching and wiring in a light is easy - in theory

However, I couldn't get mine to work so I called in Handieman - 352-350-7373

My mistake was in following the instructions to use the two wires labelled "light" when, because of the way my fans had been wired on installation, I should have used the black wire as my "positive"

Any doubts - call in Handieman

Lynn - From one of redwitch's previous posts regarding help with all things electrical:

"Give Alan Byer a call (352/205-7504). He used to be an electrical contractor and knows his stuff. "

I have used both Handie (dehumidistat) and Alan Byer (install and hang Flat screen on wall), and you can't go wrong with either.
