Well it is a little hard to give advice with so little information about your situation. Is the the router old or new … what is the router model number? What kind of wifi signal do you need in the living room … is it for just browsing? Or streaming to your TV … or video games?

I have an Asus rt-ac68u router in my front room. It easily provides a good signal to my entire 2000 sq ft home and streams via wifi to my tv in the living room. But older or less expensive routers may not cover your entire home. If that is the case, you either need to purchase a more capable router or purchase a wifi extender. A wifi extender will provide internet to your living room … but usually at a reduced speed (but that may not be a problem if you have light internet usage)
